Yes Java can sometimes be a bit slower than it's counterparts _but_ it can actually be faster in some cases due JVM runtime optimizations. Something most languages (or environments) cannot do.

But that aside; how come you need pointers for your A* etc.? Java uses references for objects, always. You can just put your objects to your heap for example and nothing is passed-by-value.

Just heard on the radio: at least some of the finnish tourists who are not injured (and thus are not among the first to leave) are helping out the locals in Thailand.

Wouldn't be surprised if others did too.

Maybe they can somehow establish their own cell inside the theater so that they can distinguish individual calls and block those if need be..?

However it might difficult to _not_ to "leak" any connections to other cells (the ones outside the theater).

    Just a thought.

I wouldn't call that crippling. If the device had very high sensor resolution (~tens of thousand pixels in both dimensions) and since your brain can only evaluate so much pixel information this could actually be a reasonable approach.

I mean look at modern display hardware. You can't really distinguish solitary pixels that well anymore (although this is limited by your personal wetware but anyway.. you get the point).

Most of you propably already know this but China has it's own plan setting up a moon base.

Considering Chinas political views I'm a little sceptical how this will "benefit humanity".. But maybe thats just me.

FYI, Finland has been in EU since 1995.
