    ACORN has successor organizations. New names, same M.O.. Smaller groups, harder to identify, harder to sue, harder and less effective for law enforcement to track down and shut down. Also more difficult to generate concentrated bad publicity. It's much like the blooming of communist front groups in the mid 20th century.

  3. Other jobs will replace the disappearing jobs. One possibility is an explosion of original artwork and fine craftsmanship. There may be an increased market for live music. When you have a nice house and want to make it better, there's more demand for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, decorators, roofers, painters, etc.. Use your imagination.

    If there's some way to make your life better, that's a potential job opportunity for someone else.

    Hawking reached his Peter Point several years ago. His opinions have as much value as Newton's on religion and the occult.

  15. There are on average about 20,000 people involved in counting votes in each state. You're talking about imprisoning that many people in one fell swoop.

    Furthermore, 45,000 is 0.01% of 450,000,000. There aren't even that many people in the US, let alone voters.

    I've worked in a warehouse and seen many others. It's not hard work, it's not an unhealthy environment, and unless you're stupid enough to stand under a motorized forklift it's not dangerous. Given that there's exercise involved and fresh air coming in from shipping bays, it's probably healthier than an office job.
