Maybe the judge should've used tags? I thought it was pretty funny, (maybe because I could imagine the opinion being read by one of John Cleese's characters.)
I propose finding out if this representative has college age relatives who trade files. If we bring him the evidence, (IP addresses, filenames, all the usual RIAA crap) will he prosecute his own family? Somehow, I don't think many congresspersons kids will go to jail under these laws. Seems they usually won't go to war, either.
Having lived in NYC my whole life, before coming to Tokyo, I can say Suica is pretty different than Metrocard. You do not even have to take the thing out of your wallet to use it. No dirty metocard readers that keep you stuck for 5 minutes because they can't read your card. On the negative side, I don't think there are "unlimited" suica cards, but there are unlimited commuter passes. These work like metrocard in that they need contact with the machine, but you just insert it, and it races through the machine in a split second, and you grab it again on the other side.I've yet to have a problem with a machine not reading the card.
Brings back early memories. I was born in '68, and I remember my aunt's phone number starting with HIckory-6. Of course 30 years later she has the same number, but it is 446...
I wish they would ban _fat people_ from the sidewalks, as many of them are significantly bulkier, wider, and heavier than me on a Segway. But they're not faster.
For Japanese also check out Vine Linux - seems to be the thing here in Japan, Japanese support across the board. Not really for me though, as English is my native language, I just use the IME stuff so I can write japanese emails once in a while. Evolution is prett good for this, but still not nearly as nice as the Win2K stuff. I have to say, no great love for MS, but for games and writing Japanese (efficiently), I still need it.
Even when you don't mix design and architecture, having a clue helps. Does the PM know how many people it will take to implement a task, or even what's involved in the task? Do they know Brooks' law? In my experience 9 out of 10 Pm were consummate BS artists, that knew how to cover their ass and dodge a bullet. The other 10% have been really, really excellent - but most of those have a clue, being ex-techs. My background is in architecture of the tall building variety, and in that field, the architect is responsible for quite a bit of the project management. It doesn't matter if he can't hammer a nail himself, but if he doesn't know what nails are used for, you'd be worried. This is how most web PMs are. They know nothing about the project the are working on, and they do the software equivalent of arranging the furniture before the walls are up. I go so fed up with the situation towars the end of my job that I wrote this. Although the pretty version is not online yet...
Actually, I live in the US, and I speak Japanese, and enjoy Japanese games. I modded my PS1, and I have many foreign games, but no pirated ones. Not because I'm particularly moral, just that none of the games my friends have pirated really appeal to me. So some of us really do just want to avoid region-coding. Now if there was a way to do this without allowing piracy, do you think Sony would allow it? IMO, probably not.
I feel exactly the same way. What do Chinese and japanese food have in common, anyway? Almost nothing, except rice. Why not Iron Chef Europe? It's the same thing. This almost ruined the whole thing for me. There's a much bigger difference between Chinese, Japanese and Korean food than there is between French and Italian. Arrgh, my country always screws up this kind of thing. Glad I'm moving to Japan. Although in Japan they have a Japanese person for each style of cooking, which is another kind of offense, I think.
I know that they do make them, I was quoted a price of $1400.00, though. Check out your local high-end eyeglasses place, e.g. myoptics.
If it's in a mall, it probably won't have them though.
I still believe Harlan Ellison ripped off PKD regarding the idea that became "Terminator". Probably made a shitload of money off that too. I wish I could remember the name of the story that PKD wrote, but I remember that it was a lot closer to the movie than the story Harlan Ellison wrote, (and later claimed was used by James Cameron).
While they do use katakana for a lot of technical things, I find it quite difficult to read through Japanese tecnical docs, and I read about 600 kanji. My wife is japanese, and I have thought about working there, but I think my skills aren't up to par yet. I can converse, but the reading is the hard part. Lack of vocabulary, too. I think you're best bet is to find a US company with a presence there, and you may wind up in a position where you won't need to read Japanese all that often.
I think it is possible, to come up with decent methodologies, but at least where I work, they seem to codify the existing mistakes, and make them repeatable rather than actually think about how to improve the process. Frustration with this led me to attempt to come up with a general strategy of development based on ancient Chinese military strategies. Check it out at The Art of Web Application Development. I'm curious as to what people here think of my approach (tongue-in-cheek as it is.) It's a pretty straightforward translation of basic principles on management and strategy, that I think work better than trying to document every detail of how things get done.
It is most likely the Glen Cove address, as her company is based in Sea Cliff less than 2 miles away.

If you really want a MeFi account, contact the owner via email with something post-worthy. It worked for me...

But those things are just too damn bulky...

Doesn't that cost around $150? A little steep for a boardgame (even one with purported educational value) Is there a demo somewhere?

It's buried, but here's the email address for the US : info@peta-online.org Other countries can be found at: http://www.peta-online.org/about/cont act.html
How about Wizardry, on the Apple? It wasn't realtime, but it was first person 2.5d And it was a lot of fun.
Same company, different decade.
