This is the kind of dangerous thinking that brings abortion clinic bombings, the ongoing fighting between northern and southern Ireland, the danger in the Middle East, and countless other bloodbaths.
"Personally a lot of the Chinese I know think of the Taiwanese as people who can't speak proper Mandarin." ****** Personally, most of Chinese I know (from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore) look down on mainland Chinese as the poor uneducated hick cousin that you have in Arkansas.
Oh, they are also the people who developed the ugly-ass looking "simplified" Chinese and who ate Civets and spread SARS around.
I am a Mac user too but I cannot defend the above poster's blatant ignorance. I mean, who pays $130 for a 32MB radeon card and $210 for a 17" CRT!
A quick search on Pricewatch shows $30 for a Radeon 32MB card and a 17" monitor is easily $70 and under. Even if we were to factor in a 100% premium for extended warranty, installation, brand-name factor, falt CRT, etc, at $200 the price would still be less than the $340 quoted by the above poster who is clearly a zealot.
Correct. Japanese was influenced by Chinese which, of course, starts as well in the upper right hand corner and moves downward and then progressively to the left.
However, like most character-based languages, Chinese can also be written left to right from upper left hand corner and then progressively downward as well.
It all goes to show the the original poster has no idea what he's talking about.
PocketMusic Player from Pocket Mind already lets you play back OGG, MP3, and WMA files from your PPC. It even accept Winamp skins! http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm
From what I hear, it works great. I would tell you personally how it works but I use an iPod and plays back AAC.
Get each family member an iPod. Have them sync to a machine (OS X preferred but other OS is OK too) with a large iTunes library. Take to any room, indoors or outdoors, etc. Enjoy.
Fine, how about comparing Prescott (3-5 ghz) to the latest 1.42ghz G4? Happy?
In addition, the only thing that should matter is whether the item is shipping now. Otherwise, we are just comparing vaporware to vaporware e.g. none of this "Oh, my pre-production, non-shipping CPU is faster than your pre-production, non-shipping CPU" crap.
Lastly, you will not see a press release with the words "regain" in there, idiot. Apple's benchmark are in dispute and that's the whole point of this article!
I would like to see real world tests, which, of course Apple cannot provide right now.
In addition, in the keynote speech Apple is comparing a system (G5) that will not ship in 3 months with a system (dual Xeon) that shipped 3 months ago! To put it in perspective, this is like comparing Intel's Prescott processor (aka Pentium 5 - 90nm) or Madison to G4.
Still, I am dying to replace my G3 iBook with a G5! I am such a sucker for shiny metal objects.
Unlike you, I don't really expect much of anything from anyone's (including mine)/. post.:^)
But while we are at it, why stop at music? A DVD is only about 5 gigs which will only take ~3 minutes to download to an (insert name of some future portable media player here) via FW400 or "da real" USB2.
Heck - shouldn't an eBook device like this be developed by now where one can download books/magazines/paper with one click at a vending machine-like apparatus?
Imagine that - go to any store, download an album onto the iPod in a matter of seconds (via the fast Firewire or USB2 ports). This way anyone with an iPod, no matter what OS or platform, can get music onto their iPods!
Like GNU (GNU's Not UNIX), maybe Mozilla can rename itself MINIE (Mozilla Is Not IE). Or how about just NIE?
Because OS MLK just doesn't seem as cool as OS X.
How about Red Teeth? Or a low-powered, secured 802.11b? Then again, I am seeing more and more pBT products i.e. cell phones and PDAs anbd GPS.
See his post above.

In America, tell an American that a black person stole something, they'll instantly believe you.
Personally, I think it's an inside job!

She was also the product manager for Encarta and Expedia as well.. Hey two of three + marrying the world's richest man can't be all that bad.

He's annualized the sum of car payment + insurance + mainteance + gas to a monthly amount of $500. Sounds about right to me.
From what I hear, it works great. I would tell you personally how it works but I use an iPod and plays back AAC.
I think not.
Because Apple will sue but Microsoft will actually be glad that you are copying them!
Don't you know /. ers require immediate gratification!?!
Put a tap on the side and I will never have to leave the water to make a cup of tea!
Otherwise known as my boss.

Pocket PC Thoughts - great site maintained by Jason Dunn and team.
because those hardware only cost about half as much in US.

Pray tell, what is this "non-cinema" work (cough *pr0n* cough) you are doing? :)
