"SCO is releasing binary, run-only Linux licensing"
So could someone like IBM purchase this Linux and then sue for their rights under GPL (source and no patents that restrict free re-distrobution)? It seems like this is sorta do-or-die for GPL in America?
Being that I am now stuck on a 56K Modem... this really wouldn't be bad IF I could pick software to have mailed to me. If I was able to get the new Open Office, Mozilla and Redhat updates for a low fee it might be helpful.
Having webpages mailed to me seems stupid because I have high-speed internet at work and if there is a bandwith intensive site I just load it at work the next day...
Atleast if they 'cheat' by making GCC much better for their G5 chipts (they haven't), we can not only see exactly what they did, but those changes also become part of GCC. It's a double win.
I really think that using GCC is the way to do. If the video card companies had to do something like this maybe we wouldn't be wondering which video card is actually faster now...
That's great... no more booting into windows for a while. Does anyone want to direct me to some (accelerated) Linux drivers / installation instructions for a Radeon 8500LE?
I think that some people are now starting out coding/scripting game modules. You can start out doing Neverwinter Nights modules with little programming knowledge and improve your modules with their builtin programming language (looks like C to me). I bet other games have similar languages...
I for one started writing text adventures on my TI-82.:+)
I have to concur with your theory here... Here is another example..
RARE - who made games for the Game Cube..
http://cube.ign.com/articles/371/371768p1.html
I wonder if they will make any more games for the Game Cube...
And Bungie (made games mostly for Mac)? http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2000/Jun0 0/BungiePR.asp
I do think that it is possible they just happen to buy so many companies we just notice the ones that stick out like these examples...
aww.. common I wasn't trying to enflame anyone.:+)... just trying to point out what I see as a common theme. It may just be that they purchase a lot of companies or it could be a pattern...
Anyone want to comment on other purchases of companies that MS has made and see if those companies were heavily invested in non-MS platforms?
For all you who aren't Mac ppl, this is a refrence to the fact that Diablo for mac was released WAYYYYYYYYYY after the PC version was.
In this case Quark for OSX should have been out a long time ago....
Tivo 2 ppl... S-P-S-3-0-S (1.3, also 2.5, not 2.0 or 2.01) - Toggles 30 second skip mode. This turns the Skip to End button into a 30 second skip button. This was removed in 2.0x, but added back in 2.5.
I agree that seems pretty fishy. I bet MS is the only company licensing the tech. If there were a significant amount of companies doing so they would have listed them. I like this piece...
revenue that helped the Lindon-based company report a positive net income for the first time in its history
Zope may be good and if you want to use it GREAT. But you can easily control what sort of errors you see in your php scripts so your message is complete BS.
Try looking for the function error_reporting at php.net if you want to control what sort of errors you see in your scripts. It's always good to turn the error reporting way up while you are testing.
Why not just send him an innocent question about the product and wait for an email. If the email from him doesn't contain any information you can use to get his name, you might ask him if you can purchase a copy of product X outside of ebay then nail him that way...

developers, developers, developers, developers..... DOH!... we lost the contract with Munich...

You most certainly are NOT alone. I can't stand the Brushed Metal look... and I know there are a lot more people out there who feel the same way...
That said I really do like Macs. The G5's sound pretty exciting!
I think step 2 would be "sell them to consumers" :P

I agree. I just NVC into a Windows machine from my Linux desktop.
However, if Win4Lin is your thing that's fine with me...
I wonder if this makes them a target for Microsoft purchasing them... (anyone remember that post a few days about)?

I'm sure this isn't a complete list...
Here is a new business strategy:
1. Create product for non-MS platform
2. Sell to MS
3. Profit!
I guess I must have been thinking about Diablo I then??? It's been a while... thanks for the correction... :+)

It is something more like 4.1 Billion... 41 Billion would put them up and possibly over what Microsoft has on hand...
I agree... For those of you who don't know how to do this you can look here...

That sure stinks of Microsoft if you ask me.
same here... too bad!

Well we mostly have cattle so I don't know about the sheep... :P
We don't have any damn sales tax. If you really want to avoid it move all your company here, all six of us could use a job...
Suse, rymes with Moose... ? That's what I was always told atleast... let me know if I'm wrong...
