Fellow/.ers, Google has been attacked with an uncontested callousness in an attempt to rid the internet of freedom of search. In a time of great crises such as this, it is the individual which must stand up amidst the plague which has befallen us and strive to rectify the situation. Therefore, for the duration of the Google outages in certain parts of the world, I will be running a non-profit "Google via Proxy" charity. Simply email with the desired search string. In turn, I will search for the string, save the page in the standard format of the world wide interweb ("html") and email it to you.
Google Via Proxy can be reached via the aptly named email address thescogg@hotmail.com. Please limit your search queries to one search term per hour. Thank you, and godspeed Americans and quaint foreigners.

That's funny. I've personally known three people who've aquired lung cancer after a lifetime of smoking, but only two people who've robbed hookers after beating them to death with a baseball bat.
We should thank God that the phrase "pin number" has a built in redundancy. I, personally, know many a Slashdot reader who, when prompted for a four digit "pi number", would punch in 3.141.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but when you pay 40-50 dollars for a game, you are kinda "funding their development and distribution...". If this were freeware, you'd have a point. Or are you saying we should give companies a million dollars to create the game the way the majority wants and then pay 50 dollars for the game? Sorry, but I don't know too many chaps who have $1,000,050 just laying around.
Okay...don't tell him to go weightlifting, don't take him to a strip club, don't "get him laid". It's actually much simpler than that.
1.He likes computers, right? Simple...take him to a LAN party (those things are all over every campus in America). Even the biggest introverts open up when placed in a familiar setting with others with similar interests. It reminds me one time at EB, when a friend and I were looking at games. A group of "geeks" walks in and one of them makes a comment about a game my friend and I are talking about. His friends look at him stupid, and he retorts "Hey, I don't have any social skills here...but I'm trying". Well, he had a point...so we ended up striking a conversation with this introvert in a field he was familiar with (video games). Funny things is, the whole bunch of us "socially inept" losers ended up talking about all aspects of life for the next 40 minutes or so, right in the middle of EB. It was one of the most interesting and downright hilarious conversations I've ever had. A real blast actually. Long story short, put him in his element with understanding people, and he'll open up.
2. If/When he applies for a job, if he's expressed to you that he does want to improve his social skills (I was willing to admit mine needed improving), suggest to him that he take some type of cashier posistion or phone position. Any position where he's forced to interact with the common public can only do him good. While working at a printshop last year, I was forced for the first time in my life to talk to complete strangers and make good acquaintances (making friends with customers = customers who will come back). This did me an absolute world of difference. I became more open to strangers (all friends start out as strangers after all) and got rid of my phone phobia.
3. Just be his friend. I don't know how you talk to him now, but try to be especially friendly and open with him. Don't just talk to him about school. Strike up a conversation with him. "Hey'd you hear about that RIAA lawsuit", "How bout' them delaying Half-Life again". Hell, tell him some of them really lame intellectual jokes. Talk to him like you talk to friends on the street, albeit perhaps more technically.
He'll open up. It takes a lot of people a long time to open up, but when they get comfortable, they'll run with it. They water may be cold at first, but once you settle in, it ain't so bad. And after a while, he'll take to it like a fish to water. (Sorry for the horrible closing analogies)
And how was Nintendo expected to know that there games presented a miniscule risk of causing epilepting seizures??? I mean, that's not a normal part of the debugging process is it (buffer overruns fixed - check!, memory leak fixed - check!, doesn't cause seizures - "we'll just slip this one under the rug). Should Nintendo be expected to hire a panel of 1000 seizure prone patients to test the game? And the number one question is : Why aren't manufacturers of strobe lights being sued???
