These "buckyballs" sound like they might make cool pets but I don't think I can afford the electron microscope to show my friends the neat tricks I've taught it.
That may be wishful thinking. Photos "proving" the existence of extraterrestrial life are always out of focus. Besides, this is the Hubble telescope after all.
Welcome to the only all 64bit public access supercomputing center!
The Super Dimensional Fortress is a networked community of free software

It is operated as a nonprofit 501(c)7 and is supported and governed by
its members.
Our mission is to provide remotely accessible computing facilities for
the advancement of public education, cultural enrichment, scientific

other regardless of their location using passive or interactive forums.
Further purposes include the recreational exchange of information
concerning the Liberal and Fine Arts.
Members have access to games, email, usenet, chat, bboard, gopherspace,
webspace, programming utilities, archivers, browsers, and more. The SDF
community is made up of caring, highly skilled people who operate behind
the scenes to maintain a non-commercial INTERNET.
While we did initially start out on a single computer in 1987, the
SDF is now a network of 8 64bit enterprise class servers running
NetBSD realising a combined processing power of over 21.1 GFLOPS.

Although the spaceship was my first thought. And yes, you did miss a story.
Too late they realized that they had forgotten to implement a shutdown command or even a copy command and the filesystem was corrupted when they turned the power off.
Cats have been wired to purr and hiss with the press of a button. The U.S. government once tried to use cats for surveillance. Implanted a transmitter with the antenna in the tail. Didn't work though.
I suppose that even with implants, cats are untrainable. Now dogs on the other hand...
The U.S. government declared that since TCP/IP was paid for by the government and is in the public domain, all protocols running on top of it are also in the public domain. The news sent the stocks of the few remaining Internet technology companies crashing to ground.
Most of the theories [guesses] seem to focus on genetics or environmental factors.
I don't think it's genetics. People haven't changed that much in general and there isn't a "California" gene pool to point to--new people are moving to California and having children all the time. (I was born and raised in California and I'm still live there [here] so I'm seeing this firsthand.) And I don't think that there are enough "geeks" to account for that big of a shift even in Silicon Valley--It still takes a small army of burger flippers, gas station attendants, janitors, car washers, etc. to support a high-performance "geek."
Under environmental factors there seem to be two areas being looked at: stuff happening or being done to children such as vaccinations, and general lifestyle such as poor diet.
I think that it is environmental and probably something unnatural. My guess is some government mandated program such MTBE in the gasoline.
Yet my sister's cat remains untrainable.

the part where you copy the HSV post to other blogs before formatting your drive.
You've uncovered SkyNet!
That happened to me too. I went into Mandrake Control Center under X (run drakconf) and went to System, MenuDrake and they came back.
Hmmm ... sounds like court judges--especially liberal ones. Since when do animals have more rights than humans?
Worst case:
I buy Lindows for $49. It's already licenced from SCO and they still don't get my $699.

We've had refrigerators and coffee pots already. Now that you've mentioned it here, it's only a matter of time.
President Skroob doesn't like these mirror monitors in the bathroom either!
What was that animal that required her evilness to open her mouth really wide to eat?
I thought Bob and Clip-It were coming back. Damn you, Microsoft!

Finally, the quantity I want because a 128oz cup still not big enough!
None of that would happen in real life.
Too late they realized that they had forgotten to implement a shutdown command or even a copy command and the filesystem was corrupted when they turned the power off.
The U.S. spent a million dollars developing a pen that could work in space. The Soviets used pencils.
And porn is available in dead tree format too!

Damn Chi-Comms!

Alternate Reality News: Popular weblog Slashdot was sued out of existance today for defying the ADA.
Arrgghhh!! Disonance--Years of video games make me want a high score but that would mean ...

I loved the free CD/DVD clamshells AOL was sending me but now I need ideas for what to do with those tins they're sending me.
I was referring to Catiline's suggestion of ending the copyright with the author's life.
Wouldn't that make the works of old or terminaly ill people worth less? Or worse, invite hastening someone's end?
> Things with multiple authors ... stay within copyright / patent until the last author dies
So now we add kids to the credits?
