Essentially it'd get a licence, allow you to only play it on one device without permission, it'll only be valid for x plays or x days, rape your children then shit on their early graves...

The reason I'm annoyed is that they didn't even include it in the testing! It's a far superior format, and to not include it proves one thing - DRM is going to be a major component!

$45 IS cheap. In the UK it's GBP 120 for a full copy of WinXP. Or GBP 80 (why can't I use a pound sign????) for Home. That's $150! Ok, Americans may pay more for books than we do, but we pay WAY more for software it seems!

Err... Illegal to skip a government document? Well, in the UK, it's completely legal to do whatever with the disc, as long as you don't copy it or alter its contents without permission. We don't have a government warning, and if it weren't for the fact that my DVD player doesn't appear to support enforced viewing (ie/ watching the adverts) then I'd certainly be hacking a PC to play the movie, or at least mashing the keys to work out how to skip the commercial when you put the disc in...

The point is, Channel 4 is free. It may have adverts, but it has a standard of decency that other channels don't - live ITV and Sky. If 24 had been on Ch4, I would have watched it. Had it been on Freeview, I would have got that. But Sky, do you really expect me to pay 9billion a second (slightly exaggerated...) to watch it AND have adverts? Sure, Sky Movies doesn't have adverts, but you have to pay EXTRA for movie channels. Sorry, but screw SkyTV, and long like terrestrial TV - digital or good old fashioned analogue!

And PAL so owns NTSC's arse!

I just bought the original series, all 24 epsidoes (not 22 like the article says!) and I'm loving every minute! Not only do they go through all the normal rigmarole of launching etc, but they deal with problems like humans would, rather than like other programmes would (like suddenly finding the obvious answer, like why not use antiflasmagron drive...) and so it's always been a favourite. Hopefully, when the new series comes to the UK, it's not on Sky(^H^Hhite) and instead either Ch4 or the BBC get it. Here's to the new series being any good!

Look at it this way - we now have a cast iron case for making the Internet core facilties like DNS a non-profit zone, probably nationalising them under the US (I'm a Brit and I'd prefer this to it being corporate) scheme of doing things, or giving control to the UN. Maybe it's about time we saw the US taking up .us domains too... The overwhelming majority of .com's and .net's are in the US, while most UK addresses are in .uk so maybe this new organisational body would eduacte on the benefits of having segregated internet addresses...
