It's weird, technically, it's a virus. It spreads onto your system without your knowledge and prevents the computer from doing some function. Glad we use Linux, we're immune from all these WinViruses;)
Ten writers will NOT produce the same script given a basic treatment. And probably only one of those will be good enough to become an actual movie. It's completely different. Programming is NOT art.
Sounds like art to me... Ten painters paint pictures. One is good enough to hang on a wall at a gallery, that's art. Programming, if seen from a certain angle, IS art. Like my self-documenting code;)
If you're going to crack a password, what do you start with? Birthdays, anniversaries, dates of importance. You'd never think to try all 0's. It's too obvious. Nobody would guess it unless it was a brute force attack. It's actually remarkably clever.
Sounds like you know what you're talking about, so let me ask you this - what is the most environmentally safe way to use Nuclear Fission? Costs aside, and you have to get a decent usable energy surplus. Just out of interest...
You forget, you Americans (by that, I do of course mean the Government, and not the quite palatable denizens) use hardly any of the energy available in that Uranium. 98% of the mass put in comes out as waste. Look at Sellafield in the UK, only 2% comes out as waste, as a hell of a lot of reprocessing goes on, I in fact believe that they are the most efficient in the world! If everyone reprocessed their waste a lot, then Yucca mountain would not be necessary to store all the waste, you could in fact use a place at least 20 times smaller, and somewhere a little safer too I might add!
Oh they spell it "Aluminum". I thought that was just most Americans miss-pronouncing it! How about patents? They spell that wrong! They spell it "grabbedbytheballsuntilyounolongerneedit"
Is that to say the drug companies have been withholding such information? It's common knowledge that a lot of side effects in drugs could be removed, but they aren't as then you have to buy chemicals to counteract those side effects! More money!
Isn't it about time people started funding moral/ethical pharmaceutacal companies?
Don't know about anyone else, but the reason I moved to Google (from Mamma.com) was the fact that they do not have image ads, just text ones. And they certainly don't flash! That's the main reason! Also, I use Google Groups because they ONLY have Usenet, I don't want all mailing list crap in there as well! At the moment, Google provide a good service, if they expand as they outline here, it's going to push away people! They'll become the next Yahoo (have you SEEN there website lately? Talk about bloat!)
I wonder if it is possible to create a Jigdo set... Jigdo is the Jigsaw Download program that Debian pushes. Essentially, it downloads individual files off the Debian website, then assembles them in an order suitable for burning onto CD, including the correct boot sector etc... Then it would be very easy to distribute multiple copies of KNOPPIX without having to seed them all. Just an idea...
$3,000 dollars a settlement? Well, once you've paid it, do you get to keep the music? Let's say you have 10,000 MP3's, OGG's, APE's and WAV's (just say...) and you pay the fine... Hey, you've saved like $78,899,992,993.89 (some keyboard mashing was involved!) before tax! Wahey!

Well, either way, we'll invent articles for him so RMS doesn't get press either way ;) GNU/Linux my arse...
In fact, hopefully, Slashdot will cover Assembly in August (assembly.org) as future crew now run that ;) Should be some amazing demos this year!

Only if you correct the price ;) $500 not $50! Still, well worth it, that looks so nice!

so you've split this "water" that keep bandying about, but what IS water really? It's like birds. What ARE birds? We just don't know...
Are you serious? Just out of interest, where does the other power come from? And what happens with French waste?
George Bush Jr, OPEC, Need for portable fuel... The list goes on... And how exactly are you going to transport all this energy?

Darl McBride is the father of my yet unborn baby!
(So many issues... I'm male, no gf atm, and a geek. Hey, that didn't stop Arnold Schwartzenegger from doing it in Junior!)

IUPAC don't speak for England. They're international. So they're commie chemists! Sulphur! Honour! Colour! Crisps!
Ah, my mistake ;) I presumed Google ran its own ad service.
Pah! I went to an auction and bought a microwave for 3 GBP, about $600 (sic) at current exchange rates. That stopped my wireless network all right...

Please... Don't.
To be honest, no ;)
But hang on, why are people buying 64-bit computers? Why not jump on the 33-bit bandwagon!
Why were they even putting it in the tank? Why not put some DHMO (Hydroxyl Acid) while we're there?
Shortest Slashdot Headline Ever?
It's nice they named a University after him, after all, he did save Jack Bauer's life by swapping seats on the plane with the nuke...
