  1. A possible reason for the madness on Wikipedia Wars -- Lake Express Ferry · · Score: 2, Informative

In Manitowoc at least I know there are quite a few tourist locations that depend on car-ferry traffic to survive, when they heard about competition to the badger they many felt quite threatened, The badger represents a rush that makes up most of their visitors, My girlfriend who did tours on the USS Cobia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Cobia Says that the Badger represents about 60% of their traffic when it was in service.

Manitowoc is a small town, and not exactly a tourist destination in itself, But thanks to the car-ferry which dumps it's passengers right into the downtown, a few things can stay alive that keep your attention for an afternoon. (A few blocks of downtown, an old time ice cream shop, a naval museum with submarine, and an art gallery.) Before they go to Door County (A real tourist area)

The fact that people are trying to put propaganda into wikipedia doesn't surprise me, and the fact that nobody from Milwaukee probably cares doesn't either. A few hundred people coming on a boat wont exactly make or break their economy, But here its the rush that keeps anything tourist related open.

Well no they aren't cutting the umbilical cord so to speak.

Super Smash Bros will use the classic controller, as I'm sure other games will. The man behind the series realized motion sensitive gaming doesnt make this particular game more fun, only adds a needless gimic.

It takes a great group to take risks, (Motion sensitivity, Touch Screens on the DS etc) but it takes a wise company to know when those features aren't necessary. The DS suffered from it initial, everything needing to be touched in some way, even if it only detracts from the game play; but by now they seem to have it down very well, and only use the touch screen when it directly enhances game play.

Good point, Back in the day, when these kind of events were populated by industry representatives instead of bloggers who talk about games, Magazines would seldom if ever mention tech demos in a negative light, instead trying to focus on the positive and what the game could possibly become. Any responsible journalist should know these games have six months of development ahead of them, but bashing a game still under testing gets more 'diggs' to your 'blogg' Especially since most of the insults boil down to the controller setup, which is quite possibly the easiest thing to continue to tweak and refine right up until the day it ships.

Whatever these "Professional Gamers" like to fawn over at conventions is really the saddest moot point possible. How about a culture of game design that doesnt make normal non paid women look at our games and laugh at our sad little toys before ever giving them a chance.

Would we really give a game a chance if all the women wore normal clothing with regular proportions while every single polygon male runs around with bustling muscles wearing nothing but a terribly well rendered well endowed bannana hammock everywhere, with gratuitous slow pans from the his legs to his mostly bare ass?

Okay, some of you might give that game a chance. but still, you get my point. We are never going to get a large proportion of real women to really play video games, when only a small contigent of the market doesnt objectifiy them at every turn.

Box office success says Nothing about how good a movie is, nothing about how good of acting it had, and nothing about how good the story, is, box office success is having a movie start from the begining trying to hone in on a target audience and run a targeted non stop marketing blitz in the months between October and Thanksgiving.
