No lack of texts in Portland. These are all on the shelf at Powells Technical Books at like NW 8th(maybe 9th) and Burnside. Or you can buy them online too if you don't live in Stumptown....
Besides the layout being horribly screwed up, I get this message in every "column":

So just have one kid who carries all the watches to school, and the others ditch. The watch carrier could be rotated so everyone gets a chance to ditch...
Now, if we imbed the RFID chip in their skull, then it might work... With enough science, technology, and BigBrother (TM) we can get kids to go to school.
Or we could just pay attention to our kids, and make our schools interesting enough that kids want to go, and get parents to stop ignoring their kids as soon as they can use the bathroom on their own....
Hmm, looks like science and technology will win this one, eh?
Applescript runs on several Operating Systems But the Operating Systems Applescript runs on only run on one brand of computer (processor/architecture).
Sorry, but "WAAAAY back in the day" was long before REALNetworks... Back when "streaming video" was called "CableTV", and a computer with 4 color video was sweet!
The problem is sugar, especially processed sugar. Add to that high carb foods like breads, pastas, and such - and you have a whole lot of sugars going into the body. So if you mean people who eat mostly VEGITABLES then you could be right - because most VEGITABLES are not high in carbohydrates. But being a VEGITARIAN has nothing to do with it - sugars do not come from meats. Eating meat is healthy (well, except for the animal that *is* the meat). If you over do ANYTHING it can be unhealthy. The best possible diet is not one motivated by political beliefs (IE "save the poor cows") but one motivated by nutrition. Eat less processed and refined food, and eat a good balance of protien (meat or vegitable), and vitamins and minerals.
Imagine a Beowolf cluster of these things... It would be the same as if Slashdot put the applet in the header or something - all of us geeks computing stuff for free... That would be a lot of computing, I think a couple people visit slashdot daily!
Moderators, of which I have been one from time to time, need to do their research before modding. Or at least pay attention...
I was about to say "All your Base are belong to us!" when I saw this post. You see, moderators, the "All your base are belong to us!" comes from a poor translation of a video game - and poor translation is not OFF TOPIC. We are talking about a translating device - which would give us potential real world "All your base are belong to us!".

I hate to remind people - but there are a lot of unemployed people who would love a paycheck from SCO *or* Enron...
How would, say - a Java developer, have any influence on anything the bigwigs at SCO or Enron did? If anything - they are being hurt the most and the most unfairly, if not exactly by their company - by people like you who will hold it against a regular joe something that is/was decided by people who own yachts, have summer homes, and send their kids to private boarding schools.
Stop spreading lies. The iPod battery is no less reliable than any other Lithium Ion battery. It is a fact people, Batteries die if you don't maintain them, and even then - they have a finite lifecycle. I have had more battery trouble with our AT&T cordless phones and our DELL Laptop than with the iPod....
It is intended to target people who want a digital music player but do not need one which can hold music from more CDs then most people could ever own
What are they talking about? "Most People" could easily own hundreds of CDs. I am not even a "collector" but since CDs have been around since the 1980's I have over 600... Now do I listen to all of them? Why - yes.... But that's a different discussion... I think many people have more than 800 songs, just no need (spelled not-enough-money) to have more than 800 songs in their pocket....
"Just tell her parents that you were getting stoned" as the toddler gets into the pool. I want to make a new version that says "Just tell her parents you were reading the bible" or "Just tell her parents you were jacking off" or "Just tell her parents you were talking on the phone".... You get the idea.

Just who do you think gave the world the USA?
No one. It was *stolen* from the Native Americans at gunpoint.
Disclaimer - that *was* a long time ago and we should get over it, I am just making a point. Everybody gets "conquered" some time...

ExternE - Externalities of Energy. A research project of the European Commission.
OK, I get it. Anytime anything has the word "battery" in it we will get a hundred bozos spreading FUD about the iPod.
Article: "Mrs. Haines was accused of assault and battery."
Moron: "Just like Apple, beating up on their iPod customers..."
or
Article: "The battery at Ft. Sumter was under attack for many days."
Moron: "Just like iPods dirty little secret, we should attack the evil Apple iPod empire!"
It might be worth noting that Dictionary.com lists the electrical-storage-device definition of battery as the 6th definition...
What are solar cells made out of? Does the solar cell manufacturing process harm anything? (just playing "Evil Doers"(TM) advocate)
That's not stealing. It's "Possession Infringement".

But they ALSO say (immediatly following your quote):
But, the case can be opened, and there are several third parties that offer replacement batteries for the iPod, such as iPodBattery.com (instructions, with pictures: original, non-"dockable" iPod, new, slim "dockable" iPod) and PDASmart, for as low as $49.
Yes.
Does Windows98 support FireWire?
