I don't think it's unreasonable of you to not want to purchase a console until it has games you consider worthwhile. But hey, that's just me, I'm a little zany.
If it means anything, my understanding is that a sequel to DOABV is in the works. I seem to recall reading it somewhere (no proof, though).
"Ever since" is a bit difficult to establish precedent with, seeing that Sony has only been at this for 2 generations. I'm not saying Sony won't continue to end up on top, but it's not an inevitability. Remember, Nintendo was the undisputed king of consoles before PS1, and Atari before them (though Atari fell for other reasons).
"remember how Ballmer used to give us shit because we didn't eat the bones of the babies we devoured?"
"that was so awesome when allard couldn't get it up to assfuck a nun, so he used his foot instead!"
I'm laughing at Microsoft and everyone who thinks this is funny, all at once. That's how post-post-modern I am.

You seriously need to read news from another source besides slashdot, which is right now the only site reporting frequently on the supposed "disaster" of the 360 release.
These new "talkie" motion-pictures are horrible! I remember when you had to imagine what people were saying on the screen, or watch ornate subtitle screens with delightful piano music, to follow the plot. And these new plots these "talkies" have: how awful! Whatever happened to tying a damsel to a train track? That little device has a lot of legs on it still, and these "stories" told by "talkies" are just making things more complicated. They take away from why I watch my motion-pictures in the first place!
Actually you will see it more often with this console than with consoles in the past. Every game is designed to work with the "jewel" button on the controller, which brings up the live menu, which is in the dashboard. Any time you want to check on a message or invite, you'll be going to the dashboard (though I think there's an option to only have it take up half the screen if it comes in game).
I'll give you credit for trying, but that's pretty weak. Don't you mean that your $400 console looks as good as your $500 PC? If you don't want to buy an xbox then don't, but that's just weak.
I think the comparison has more to do with the total $$ than the number of tickets or games sold. $125 million is still > $114 million, regardless of how it got there. That's still a huge take, worthy of comparison against the film industry's biggest weekend take (and after only 24 hours, to boot). That is a noteworthy comparison. Regardless of what anyone thinks of MS, this says a lot about the growing strength of the gaming industry in comparison to the movie industry.
Funny thing about that Toy Story quote is how it's been misrepresented. Turns out it was originally a quote from the xbox team about xbox (Seamus Blackley if I remember correctly. In videogame forums it's taken a life of its own and now Sony is blamed.
Not to say Kutaragi hasn't made outlandish claims for the PS, though. I seem to remember how much the Emotion Engine was going to change my life....
Better yet, go and try their online service using one of the many free 2-month package cards you can get in any game. Rather than read some Nintendo or Sony drone bash their "competitor" system (which is ridiculous, because NEWS FLASH: consumers don't make money if one console outsells another!), try it yourself.
It's a great service that works well and that makes a lot of people happy. If you don't want to shell out $4/month, then fine, but so far neither Nintendo nor Sony is offering anything remotely close, paid or free.
I think there should be a filter, by the way, on jerkoffs like this. If any inane bias is detected for any particular console that flies in the face of reason and facts, then they should have their posts replaced with self-mocking diatribes.
Oh, that, and they should be shot for being so insanely stupid to be so defensive and obsessed with something that just doesn't mean that much, and to companies that certainly don't give a shit about them.
Oh, I'm over myself, hardball. Dallas is also rivals with other teams, like SF. Read the original fucking post to see my point before getting up on your high fucking horse.
yeah, it's scary. Check out 610 WIP. You get some real winners calling in to that show.
Though as a disclaimer, I'm a pretty insane Eagles fan myself. Partly because I live in CA and it's one of the few connections I have to back home. People are afraid to watch the games with me.
So they're offering Philadelphia area locals (West Chester) the option of relocating to Dallas? To anyone who knows anything about football rivalries, that's a pretty poor option for those folks.
This just in: Dead Sea Technologies is closing their Jerusalem office and relocating employees to their Egyptian offices.
The only "failure" was on the part of retailers in listing Halo as a launch title just to drum up business. The only thing MS has said remotely setting a date was that Halo 3 would be out around the time of the launch of the PS3. That's it. The fact that it was listed in launch bundles is either stupidity on the part of the retailers or a ridiculous attempt to increase sales. Joe consumer likes halo, sees it as part of a launch bundle, and buys the bundle, regardless of the fact that no one anywhere has said it will be there for launch.
"Halo 3 launch failure"? What failure? When did anyone with half a brain ever think that Halo 3 would launch with xbox360? This was a stupid rumor from the beginning, so to prove that it is incorrect does not indicate a failure on anyone's part regarding the 360 launch. To call anyone a failure for not coming up with a sequel to Halo 2 one year after its release, and on an entirely new platform, is being a bit overzealous in your definition of success.
I'm not going to argue the point about unfinished games, because precious little has been shown to date. The question is, is that MS playing cards close to the vest or a real problem? Time will tell....
I totally agree about Windows versus Linux, but that's not the issue I was referring to. I was referring to ASP.NET, which at the end of the day is nothing but a bunch of source files. It's not like the old VB, where there were other things going on behind the scenes besides your source code (especially for forms). ASP.NET, and.NET as a whole, can be entirely handled in source code. VS does not in any way prevent you from getting "under the hood". Again, older versions of VS might have, but the.NET version does not, especially with ASP.NET. Everything is source code backing files, HTML, and xml config. The only code that VS.NET "generates" is code you kick off with a helper wizard, but that's all just boilerplate start-off code that you're expected to maintain from then on. It also does some generation when designing windows forms apps (not in ASP.NET), but even that can be completely overwritten (again, unlike older versions of VS).
As a disclaimer, I am primarily a Java programmer and manage several Linux servers for clients. I much prefer that environment, so I'm no Windows fanatic. And when using any IDE or framework, I never like to use wizards or helpers that keep me away from the code that is being written or sacrifice my control over what's going on. That being said, you won't have those problems with ASP.NET in VS.NET.
I understand your complaint about the burden of UIs, but I think that if you're working in ASP.NET, it's foolish not to use Visual Studio. While it's true that there are a lot of GUI helpers and wizards and what-not that start to get in the way once you reach a certain level of expertise, at the end of the day you can still work directly with the code in VS. The advantages of having inline help, syntax coloring, auto-completion, project organization, etc. in the native home of ASP.NET editing are just too many to think that another environment like a pure text editor would be a good idea. In the newest version of VS, you even get code refactoring tools.
I guess it just drives me crazy when people overreact to things and throw the baby out with the bathwater.
MS clearly stated at E3 that a 20GB drive was standard. They are making it easy to remove so they can sell you a bigger one.
The parent is right. Despite MS's actual statements that the 360 will come with a HD, this analyst is basically making stuff up, based on publicly available information from 5 months ago.
Nevermind the fact that the press release says the same thing that Sony has been saying for 2 years, that the Cell processor is can run multiple operating systems. And that saying that, and listing OSX as an example of an operating system, has nothing to do with the chances of that operating system ever being put on the Cell.
Nevermind the fact that much speculation occurred on Apple fan sites 6 months ago or longer about Apple potentially using the Cell processor in the future. And that the speculation eventually disappated once people realized that Cell wouldn't make a good general-purpose CPU. And when Apple announced that they were going with Intel. And when people realized that the groundwork for the switch to Intel had actually been going on behind the scenes for years, meaning it would be very hard for them to shift again and go to Cell. Meaning that Jobs obviously had other ideas in mind when he spoke about cooperating with Sony (I don't know, maybe getting Sony to buy into iTunes might be a good move for Apple, maybe possibly?)
Nevermind the fact that people writing "oh my god, now sony will totally kick microsoft's ass! this is so fucking awesome sony + apple = roxors!" is ill-informed fanboy wishing. And that pointing that out is not, as you say, xbox fanboyism, but just a point of fact. There's subtlety, I know, in the idea that discounting or disagreeing with one point of view does not mean you take the opposite point of view.
Neverminding all of that, you have a good, clever point and have effectively used my words and tone against me.
Take an 8-month old report of Apple looking to "work with" Sony. Add marketing speak from the initial burst of info about Cell, and how it is designed to run "multiple OSs".
Add some Sony fanboyism.
Add some "Slashdot Anti-Microsoftism(TM)".
Watch the speculation fly. And watch people make complete asses of themselves.
This is hands down the stupidest, weakest thing I have read here in a long time.

Here we go again. Keep it up with the "Microsoft is phasing out the 360" rumors. Keep stating them as fact and maybe it will gain mindshare.
We've seen you before here, and you are starting to sound like a broken record. A broken record with retards singing boy band covers.

insane power advantage?
chances rising that Microsoft will pull the plug on the 360?
Someone is letting their wishes dictate how they think.
"remember how Ballmer used to give us shit because we didn't eat the bones of the babies we devoured?"
"that was so awesome when allard couldn't get it up to assfuck a nun, so he used his foot instead!"

Is this based on your personal experience with the 200 games currently on the list? Or are you confusing "what I think" with "what is"?

People who can't read tone from context should also be shot.
