at work, i also have a dual monitor setup with win2k and debian, using a matrox 450m. im no linux guru by any means, but i get along okay. i found it surprising that the linux drivers for the card were MUCH better than the windows drivers are. it took me much less time to get both monitors working in linux than windows.
an exception to the rule, i think, but an odd one to be sure.
this had no bearing on debians security, save the ability of the developers to keep there passwords in their head instead of on post-its on the monitor, hehe
could they net the same profit on the os? i dont know. i bet they make quite a bit selling windows at quite a bloated price, but linux has a strong point with "free." maybe they could drop the price on pcs by $150 and only net $50 on the os? merely speculation, mind you.
no doubt. speaking as someone who aggressive rollerblades(yeah, look it up) and bikes a little, im sick of everything being Xtreme nowadays. they think they can market anything to anybody as long as it has something to do with an Xtreme sport, etc. its become a cliche joke to anyone in a sport deemed "Xtreme" by marketing folks. notice all the Xtreme sports in commercials nowadays? i dont mind publicity, but they make a mockery of us sometimes.
i know i sent him one... no, two, i forgot something in the first one. i bet youre right, i bet hes gonna open up mozilla^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Outlook and find a couple hundred emails.
they screwed up the email so badly recently that they had to resend ALL email received since 2000. yeah, thats a hell of a lot of email to get (again) in a week.
that's the way it is here at Oklahoma State Our CS dept runs solaris and harldy ever goes down, while the rest of the campus (save the arts and sciences office im in, we run solaris as well) runs windows and gets hacked on a regular basis. thats not counting the times it just goes down.
our IT dept is in dire need of some *nix, but our new IT director is all windows. i wont say i havent benefitted from the free M$ software ive gotten through the msdaa he arranged, but our network is a little unstable to say the least.
thats the only way they could be more secure than linux, right? if security isnt based on good(perfect, whatever) code, then windows has a chance!
i hate most of what ms does, but that man(evil as he is, of course) gates is some kind of businessman. could you sell an inferior product for hundreds more and make money at it?
THAT was the nuttiest(no pun intended) thing ive seen in a while on CSI last night... that dude crying about finding out who he really was was WHACKED. id never even heard of all that before...
to stay on topic, uh... beowulf clusters of something or others... or how about SCO sux?

according to a "study" done at princeton, We may have to give up project planning, quality control, coding standards, accountability, version control, and support with open source. so, you see, RH could not possible have any QA, much less quality QA
