Not only that, but as soon as these people know they're being fired and they stop caring, the company will start to spiral downward even faster. This will cause the economic problems to show up more quickly and will force managment to travel BACK IN TIME to tell their employees that they're going to be in fired.
The ads on Google's site are delivered as a text listing above the search results--making them appear more a part of the page's content. "It works so well since users seem to be under the impression that all ads are graphical in nature and written-word ad placements are still editorial," says ad buyer Jonathan Adams, senior partner at Ogilvy Interactive
I have to disagree with this part of the paragraph from the linked article. I don't see how the advertising can be confusing to a user just because it's not "graphical". Unless, I suppose, you're a senior partner at Ogilvy Interactive.
The ads stand out on the page, very clearly (IMHO). Even if the ads are not JPG's or GIF's they have the appearance of being "graphical" in nature.
I can't afford $200+ for a PDA, but $80 might be nice...why don't they even offer the basic 2MB model on the handspring site? That's sad. Give them a cheapone and they'll get hooked for more.
Sorry, but $200 is just too big of a step for a PDA for me. Yes, not everyone on/. is made of money:)

We have choices in the US? really? I'm in the middle of a very sizable city and I still can't get any broadband. So fuck off with your "move if you don't like it" attitude.
Maybe when mommy and daddy stop paying all your bills you'll begin to understand what the real world is all about.
If you can find me DSL for $40/mo with the same start-up costs as dialup (i.e. zero) I'm your guy...point the way and I'll pay for DSL.
There area lot of people that can't afford to drop $200+ on startup costs and pay the $60, 70, 80 a month. As was pointed out in the first reply to your post, they have one line and dial in on it.
I really love this movie
Because then I would have known to not go. As it stands, I went and suffered.

Katz is a moron.
So this does indeed eliminate the advertising execs.

I'm not sure if that makes any sense.
Ok, a correction to my post. The new "basic" version is the Delux that starts at $169.

I know this is redundant. But please, if you can, give blood. Even if you're not in the NY area, give blood because it's the gift of life.
I know this is redundant to a post I made below, but I put up a mirror here:

doh. looks like I missed the roll-over images. Oh well, at least the content is there...

It's just the page linked to from the article, nothing more.
I try going to

and I get a javascript alert saying:
"You Loose! Have fun at the EFF"
And then it redirects to the EFF homepage.
I guess someone's feelings are hurt.

As long as we're all posting our "best of's" I thought I would toss mine into the mix:
AM station out of Chicago: WBBM 780. Picked it up in Denver.
I was pretty impressed.
look up on google "IP to DWord" :)

safeweb is your friend.

Strange indeed.
http://www.mozillazine.org/
indicates it's off of the 0.9.2 branch and that's what the mozilla site said at one point.
Looks like conflicting info.
NS 6.1 is based on Mozilla build 0.9.2 which is pretty darn good. Prior to 0.9.3 coming out, 0.9.2 was my browser of choice for home.
though you may think a x.0 to x.1 step is small, in terms of the mozilla code, it's a huge step.
Netscape is just branded-Mozilla and it's looking pretty good. If it actually makes a dent in the browser "market" remains to be seen.
you assumed wrong actually. :)
It's based on 0.9.2.

wouldn't that indicate that there is actual info on

Cable modem access would be great but it's not available in my one section of my other-wise completely covered city.
Damn that AT&T.

that's why god invented voice mail. so 20 bucks a month for dialup and 5 bucks a month for voice mail.
that's still a heck of a lot cheaper than DSL.
I wish I could afford it, but DSL is simply not in the budget.
intelligence at it's best. at least for /.
