On the full-disclosure list. It seems that after ES5 found out people had discovered the malware contained in it. They decided to upload a new version which will probably have those functions taken out. I see this as a suspicious move and would be very hesitant to use any of their software myself.
It was a fun game with a great premise. I loved how you could buy real parts and not just generic things like gran turismo has. The bad part as others have said is the game was dominated by early-adopters and those with skill. I rarely saw someone else with my amount of playtime because new players just weren't entering the game. I think it would have done much better if it had been sold as a single-player with multi option instead of a pay-per-month mmorpg.
lol, yeah, steroidal side effects. Someone was talking out their ass to you. Creatine does not have any steroidal side effects. It does not make you look like a juicer at all. To get actual changes in skeletal structure you must be on some serious gear. Losing hair has to do with the increased DHEA (if I recall) that comes along with the increased test levels from taking steroids. Also if you are not already genetically predisposed to losing hair you will not lose hair from steroid use.
Impotence I believe has to do with the increased blood pressure that comes from steroid use. Also something that creatine does not affect.
Please get your facts straight before you spew more FUD about supplement use in bodybuilding. A good place to start would be http://www.bodybuilding.com
After watching all the message traffic on the full-disclosure list about this exploit I knew a worm would be forthcoming. This is a fairly easy to abuse exploit and with all the unpatched systems out there I can only imagine the possible growth this worm might experience.
Google has lots of experience with the whole websearch thing. Plus the image search is fun to play with and they give us googlenews which is a godsend to people like me whose providers don't have newsservers worth a flip.
This will be good only if we see some new innovation but honestly I do not see how I would leave google. I just get too much use from it.
Odds are though that MS tactic will be to buy Google or some other "innovative" idea.:/
I don't have a problem with the minimum seeing as how hard it is to be a good umpire. The maximum does seem a tad bit high to me.
You have to remember all the work these guys have to put into the game though. Some of them work harder than the some of the players.
Of course the Umpires are going to hate this. Like you said it points out their mistakes. Imagine what it'll be like if a World Series game is decided by a strike that the computer decides should have been a ball?
Can you imagine the backlash from fans against the Umpires then?
I personally think it is a great idea since it helps enforce the strike zone. Now the umpires will play favorites less and try to make calls as accurately as possible.
It is a big enough pain in the rear to get allocated ipv4 space without having people steal it out from under you.
Hopefully one day before I die the migration to ipv6 will occur and namespace will be plentiful to all. Of course jokers like these will probably steal the addresses anyway for other uses.
I don't like them personally but to me this seems like quite an impressive achievement. It is cool to see they expect to hit 2 billion in only 4 years, that is definitely what I would call growth.
Even in my smallish town of 25000 we had two dialup bbs. I remember going home every day and setting my modem to auto-redial each one until I got on so I could use my turns in TradeWars, LORD, and Exitilus. For some reason I absolutely loved Exitilus and wish there was a free open source version now. I guess I could get off my butt and code one.
The ultimate quest for power... godhood. This could definitely be a good game. Especially if it is done the right way. Something about gathering followers to propel me to godhood just makes me drool.
On an OT sidenote. I love the new games section.
Hopefully it will help speed up the logging process so it doesn't take him so long. I remember many long stretches of time sitting in a shlumberger truck watching the data from the tool slowly coming back to us.:\

I was in the middle of reading the hl2 story when this was posted. Site has gone to crap now. :(

Deep Blue is what you are thinking about.

Obviously they are still having big problems with the geniuses in marketing.

Yeah, but we have *nix, *BSD, and Apache/PHP/etc book reviews fairly commonly. I think it is nice to have some Mac book reviews also.
