very true. I work at an isp support hotline and we have many customers excusing for using vista. "i know it sucks but it came preinstalled with the new computer". Vista has an incredibly bad reputation, at least here in germany. And market penetration must be quite low as only about 1 out of 20 persons calling has vista installed (might be that there are just no problems if you're using vista. naaah ;))

the problem is that i won't be used just for that once it's installed. Little story from germany: Some years ago our politicians decided to charge trucks for using our highways. So they ordered an system (Toll collect) that tracks which road is used by which truck, most of it is done with a little on board unit. But to prevent abuse they installed controll points on all major streets in germany. Which, of course, can be used to track arbitrary vehicles. But that was no problem, since politicians of all partys promised never to use the data for anything else. That was until some person (don't remember exactly what happened) was hit by a truck on a rest station and killed IIRC. Since nobody wanted to be the one to tell them not to use the data in this case there was a precedent and it's now used in relation to severe crimes. Want to bet how long until it's used for minor problems like missing insurance? What's preventing this infrastructure being abused much more in the furture? There is no way to prevent it but not to install it in the first place

I have an 18mbit connection for 32 euros a month and i regularly transfer more than 100 GB a month. There is no way my ISP is going to cap me for that because it's just not that unusual. It might be that Catholicism is seen as more "accepting/open-minded" in the US because there are really cracy fundamentalists there. In europe Catholicism is seen (at least by younger people) as what it is: a cracy cult which forces you too believe stupid things and does horrible things too. Some examples? A person becomes infallible by vote. You have too believe "wonders" like the spontanious bleeding of people. You're not allowed to use condoms (great job in africa! fucking genocidal assholes) and so on.

So it's really great that the catholic church is open about their horrible deeds in the past while continuing to promote some other horrible ideas. And i'm really way impressed that they don't deny evolution, they must be so modern and not stupid ...

Lets get real here. Why is a religion meassured against the most cracy and can then be proud to be not as hilarous? That Catholicism seems better is just because you have even more cracy religions over there.
