The ones spouting that myth were Apple themselves.
    arstechnica.com explains it best:

"Apple also made it a point to reiterate their old bit about how, under certain circumstances with certain applications that certain Apple users often use, the G4 can sometimes be twice as fast as a PIII at the same MHz rating.

Give it up Apple, because not only are such statements both
    a) purposefully misleading and
    b) so vague as to not really mean much of anything, and not even the die-hards are buying it anymore.

Yeah, the MHz rating isn't all that matters, but it does really matter. Anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to sell you a Mac."

The light coming from the Sun is made up of many colors, each of which has a different wavelength. The atmosphere affects how each color of light passes through, as the light waves encounter molecules, small water droplets and bits of dust.

Blue light has a short wavelength, and the particles in the air scatter it around, making the sky appear blue. Red light has a longer wavelength, which acts more strongly and is not scattered as much.

Sunsets are red because in the evening, the light has more atmosphere to pass through to get to your eye, and only the strong red light can make it through.

I think they picked it because of the graphical interpreter. Remeber this was 1987/88 and except for LOGO there weren't too many languages that let you make pretty pictures easily. I really wished they taught basic C in first year and moved up from there.

Graduating with SmallTalk experience certainly isn't what an employer was looking for when I graduated in 1992 and never changed since.
