Miners...UNION!? They employ migrant child labor in South Africa. I doubt that they get so much as a lunch break. In fact, I think the only thing they get in addition to a few pennies a day is a full rectal exam each day after leaving the mine.
Debeers is one of the most cruel and devious corporations in the world. Their tactics are desicable, yet oh-so-creative. They've successfully stopped Australian and Russian diamonds from being so much as marketed in the United States with these tactics, and I'm sure it'll only take their executives a small amount of time to figure out how to keep these artificial diamonds out of the market.
You know their slogan, "a diamond is forever"? Yes, forever. Meaning you keep it forever. Meaning you don't sell it. Meaning there is no second-hand market. They really are good at eliminating markets, no?
This would be true, except for the fact that media outlets have a duty to report news fairly, unbiased, and to expose all truths. Their bribing of the government is a conflict of interest, and their choice of what commercials to air is bias.
You, sir, are an asshole. You actually--as a 14/15-year-old--harassed the admin of your school's/district's computer network, wasting HOURS OF HIS TIME "showing him demos," and then you left the school BECAUSE OF THAT? And then, you effectively stole some old computers from your new school? Wow, what a GREAT PERSON YOU ARE.
What the fuck is wrong with you? Your in school to get an all-around education. Do you go into McDonald's, harass the manager about the fact that the LCD displays aren't the most cost-effective solution, and then never patronize it again? Schools are there for you to fucking learn, not to play with their computers. You're a moron.
Amphetamines? The Air Force feeds them to its pilots.
Amphetamines? Millions of parents feed them to their kids.
What did you think Ritalin and Adderall were?
Inclusion in a dictionary does not mean it's proper English. "Irregardless" is in the dictionary, and that's...well, not a word.
"Matices" results on Google outnumber "matrixes" results 40:1! Not to mention that Google doesn't even consider "matrixes" a word (Did you mean: matrices).
I don't know if you were serious or not, but here's what I think:
- There is no cure to the common cold. You can't "build" a "cure" that eradicates all of the individual purveyors of the common cold. There are too many things.
- The common cold doesn't kill; complications from the common cold kill. These (indirectly caused by poverty, etc.) would not only solve the death-by-cold problem, but many other things.
I think I have plenty basis for my ASSertion.
Point 1: They are anonymous. Not incriminating in itself, but a heavy indicator.
Point 2: It's just plain unrealistic.
Point 3: They cited some large, yet precise, number--29,892. How would you come up with that figure? Unless you keep each and every image you take saved to your harddrive, ready to index and count at the touch of a button, it's highly unrealistic. Not to mention that it would take up about 120 GB if saved with any reasonable quality....oh yeah, and if you would have read the original troll, you would have noticed that they explicitly stated that the 30,000 pictures figure was NOT taken while they were doing photography as a profession.
I also find it odd that you make assertions as to whether or not I know professional photographers (well, you don't say it--you just insinuate it). Kind of hypocritical, no?
I'm with you on that one. I fell in love with the multiple playlists (I just made playlists for every album and never bothered to save them or anything) and the nicer interface.
WRONG! Homer and his family had to flee Springfield and settle on the farm. I don't know where the farm is, but it's most definitely not in Springfield.
Are you INSANE?
$62,000/year is probably about twice the average income. And I noticed you said median, not mean, but I'd be extremely surprised if the discrepency between the mean and median was that high.
I'd say just leave them alone. The most naughty things they could be doing involve conversations with friends, plotting things. And you just cannot control those, so you have to let them go. As for porn...let it go. I mean, obviously have them leave the door open when you can, but if they're in their rooms late at night with the computer on and the door closed, just try to forget about it. They WILL find ways around all rules, so don't try to enforce weird and obscure ones. If you've done a good job as a parent, they won't be talking to strangers and what-not anyway, and anything they will be doing will be just as easily does in person or over the phone, so there's no point in trying to stop it over the Internet.
Symantec also blocks, on my corporate network, the Unitarian-Universalist website. Their explanation? SexEd. Not even just sex...but SexEd. I've already lost faith in them.
I think we're all well aware that you're not an attorney and we're not actually getting legal advice. People, please, it's annoying--stop putting it up there. It just makes you look arrogant.
So because a school doesn't teach to a standardized test it isn't a "focused education"?
It seems to me that the common denominator isn't public schools, it's the automatic nature of SATs.

Cocaine is not physically or chemically addictive, and therefore the withdrawal is completely different (all in your head, that is) from caffeine.

A couple hundred since May 1, and those are just U.S. citizens. Imagine all of the Iraqis, dying, too.
The plural of "matrix" is "matrices."
QUICK...what's 4 times 3?
Of WHAT!?

Um. You take over 80 pictures a day? Every day? Worst troll...ever.

That's illegal to not accept the new bills.

Poorer nations such as Brazil, India, South Africa, China and Saudi Arabia...
Since when is Saudi Arabia considered a poor nation? It may be a lot of things, but poor certainly isn't one of them.

Unless of course you've travelled back in time from Rome and you speak Latin fluently.
It makes you sound arrogant to think that anybody would actually mistake you for a lawyer.
Yes. But unfortunately those facilities aren't available to Slashdot trolls looking to get an article posted.
