  2. Re:My shuffle world random rocks on The Joy of Random Shuffle · · Score: 0

i don't know if this just me or if i do feel that the word 'random' in random shuffling is a misnomer.

i have this feeling that itunes, though randomly playing my music are following a predictable pattern. it's like song A will be followed by song D and if you listen to your playlist long enough, you'll be sure that song E will played out after song D.

play count field in itune somehow confirms this as some song are played more often then others and in some case, some song will not get selected at all. if a truly random shuffling, it would guess all song has the same chance of being played.

this also the case on winamp (be4 itunes comes out on windows), windows media player and the likes although i couldn't quantified it as they don't have play count like itunes.

    any thoughts on this?

actually, there's a reason for some company to provide a backdoor access.

there's some system that is so important that one cannot afford to loose the protected data. a client who messes up the system so badly, by purpose or accident, that the data is locked out, but the client don't want the data to be lost forever. crictical system like protein-folding or dna sequencing or airline reservation comes to mind.

what's the solution for this? backdoor access comes to mind. now it's just a question of the morallity of the company about using the back door access.

i think there's a market for these kind of notebooks.

the people who bought these kind notebooks are people who usually don't planing to move those notebooks around too much, leave in their room, but on occasion, do move from place to place and would like to bring their computers around.

or those few paraniods who hides thier notebooks around when they are not at home but would like to have the best technology on their hands.

there are some people, for example, students who uses campus computers on campus, but move from one house to another every year and come back to their parents home every now and then. or the business person who travel very little. stays in the office most of the time.
