now seriously, this isnt flamebate. this is me trying to illuminate the flaw in your opinion in a very inappropriately lighthearted way.

"If you want change in the system, you have to do so according to the system." tell that to the black people who can now vote/sit at the front of the bus/read... etc. or the women who can now vote... or the college students in china (technically everyone in china) who live "within a system" that doesnt afford the means to change it. it's where we're headed with the riaa and the mpaa and if you cant see the rammifications at this distance - you're gonna get the surprise of your life when they're on top of us.

now im not advocating the stealing of music. but when i go to 3 - 4 concerts a month, buy real cds/dvds, and i DONT share my music collection online... i dont take a very big conscious hit when i download one or two songs i like. whether or not thats legally wrong does not concern me. thoughout all of history people have broken laws that - while good when they were written - have outgrown their usefullness. the music industry needs to evolve with the times or they will stay the "victim" that they are claiming to be. i would say something like an optional tax for all internet users - hell, disguise it as something regulatory, most industries already do that - and have it indemify you for downloading music. i dont know - there are a million ways that the industry could change for the better - where it can make a killing - but instead, it would rather sue its customers? fuck them. hah. just writing this has made me feel better about the 4 gig complete beatles collection torrent i saw somewhere online. (i mean, itunes doesnt have any beatles cause they are so wrapped up in this bullshit - everyone wants more money and none but the end user has to suffer for it)(suffer as in, cant get access to music they are willing to pay for)

whatever, im done. mod me to hell.

this isnt flamebait. honestly. just my opinion, dispite how unpopular it is. the first point covers a basic thought of mine, the other 4 cover the 4 possible situations someone would be in while searching.

    1) using a public search engine - there really isnt any expectation of privacy. to expect one is well, silly.

    2) searching for fully legal and completely moral things (ie: "new england yacht club") - you have nothing to worry about. morality is in the eye of the vocal majority and it looks like youre in it. congratulations. no problems here outside of your own thoughts on point 1.

    3) if youre searching for anything immoral yet completely legal and you're embarrassed (ie: "anal gaping huge dildo men over 18") - sorry, i guess its just not working out for you. you fall into the silent majority (.

    3) if youre searching for something moral yet completely illegal (ie: "limited home usage of pot for consenting adults who will not be operating machinery") - then you should be searching unafraid and willing to face the consequences of your actions. not limited to fighting for what you believe. you're part of the vocal minority.. again cheers to you.

    and lastly,
    4) if youre searching for illegal and immoral things (ie: "kiddie porn warez sites l33t") - why are you using a public search engine? sounds to me like youre a half-assed criminal who doesnt know how to protect himself. you are in the silent minority. thanks for playing.

hope that sheds some insight to what i think.

ah yes.. i did one of these for a friend of mine.. actually.. i offered to do one of these for a friend of mine with absolutely NO prior experience or instruction manuals...

    heres how it went..

day 1. order replacement CCFL from ebay. luckily one seller had it in the original housing meant for my laptop screen. for 50$ + next day shipping - 65$.
day 3. put in new CCFL after an HOUR of painfully slow and arduous task. removing all the foil tape in once piece. saving and identifying the millions of screws. reapplying all the foil tape... fun. power up - no light. oh my. now whats the problem.
day 4. i realized there was an isolated power inverter circut board running power directly to the CCFL. my only guess was that this is bad and needed to be replaced. went online and ordered one from singapore. searched about 50 websites with nothing to go on but a circuit board p/n and serial number. found it... for 60$ + priority international shipping - 85$
day 8. installed new power inverter.. BAM works like a charm. reassembled entire laptop and gave it back to the friend.. since i quoted her at 100$ (another shop quoted her at 400$ and said they couldnt gaurante that it would work after)... i basically lost about 50$ on the deal.. but shes a good friend and i decided not to tell her how much it actually cost me in parts... after all, i told her it was about 50$ in parts and about 50 for a hours labor...

my advise.. do all your research before you get started. examine the inside of your monitor... see what work needs to be done.. look up the boards on ebay and elsewhere to get a feel for the price of your replacement parts... and if all else fails.. send it to me. ill do it for less than 400$...

what youre saying might be correct if perhaps the writers of the declaration used the words "inalienable".... but they didnt. they used the words "unalienable". there is a difference which you might be interested in. by the virtue of their very definition, rights that are INalienable can be superceded by other parties or even yourself - and our forefathers knew that. which is why you read "unalienable" rights in our declaration - no entity, PRIVATE or public has the right to encroach on those rights - for any reason. those who do - or would try to - are in breech of the very contract which defines this nation.

sure - the school could read that blog and expell you for say.... some made up bullshit reason... like.. you were a threat to the student body or something else creative... but no one.. no thing - that is under the jurisdiction of the Unitited States of America can have their UNalienable rights revoked. when someone settles for anything less - they, little by little, set the precedent that the people arent responsible enough to have democracy... and those people do not deserve it. those who would like to pray upon these people and encroach upon their rights are the real terrorists "at home".

we have the framework for an excellent system of government yet there is nothing being done to advance it. granted, its current state it doesnt scale well to our size country and the confines of the world in which we have to compromise with - but to scale well to the size of our country and more importantly, the depth of our beurocracy..... would require hard work that just isn't in americas guts anymore. we're a country of weak people now and its a shame.

to paraphrase robin williams..."so we're helping iraq write their new constitution... we should just give them ours, we arent using it".

actually - i have been in that position before. although, not as a boss. and just as i try to not be a shit boss, i try to not hire shit employess. im a people person - if someone has a problem, the first solution is resolution... try to talk to them and find where the problems are coming from. if you cant come to a mutual resolution - hey sometimes people are impossible.. you have to break ties. this should HARDLY be the case in an educational system.

as for unalienable rights, you might be confused - unalienable rights are, by deffinition, not able to become allienated. INalienable rights are those that come from the barrel of a gun. and when you dont have the biggest gun - youre a martyr.

the current state of foreign policy and american history are indeed both dismal - its the peoples responsibility to abolish and/or alter their government when it... for lack of words... becomes a piece of shit... its a disgusting testament to the weakness, ignorance and arrogence of my fellow americans that we have this history and that we have this foreign policy.

now, i may sound like a left wing liberal. im not. these are just specific things i believe in. i do believe we need some kind of social security reform and i dont mind the idea of a "good" republican president... after all, america is a Republic - based on democracy. just felt the need to clarify that.. but the fact remains that it is these specific rights that men died for, lost their families for, and sacrificed it all to protect.... they didnt do it for oil... they didnt do it as a way to get reelected.. and they didnt use it as a platform to spread fear, uncertancy and doubt.

sorry. im rambling and shouldnt be. hope this does a little to clarify my position.

idealogical criteria does get the privilege to superceed the constitution. if you want to write rules into your agenda that superceed the constitution FEEL FREE TO MOVE YOUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION TO ANOTHER COUNTRY.

yes, private institutions are and SHOULD be allowed to make their own rules - so long as those rules do not even try to touch a persons unalienable rights. living and breathing in the united states means you have UNALIENABLE rights - no one, not even the government - can take that from you. anyone who trys to infringe on them needs to find a new home.
