  1. Interested in this? I had a look I could only find the e6 which doesn't seem to be in the same ballpark ( https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-... ), less refined, slower, smaller and similar price? Is there another model I'm missing?

Serious question: name a better platform? I would love a better system, but can't find another that offers the tracking accuracy inside out sensors and mixed reality. I have business customers from all over very very interested in the technology. Now I know it isn't there quite yet (viewport / resolution issues), but the second (or third as per the post the other day) hopefully might resolve some of that. I haven't been able to find anything else close. Meta2 was looking promising, but I don't think it has the structured light tracking the hololens has?

Not if they have kids. I only watch films Friday or Saturday nights now, when you can't easily go out without baby sitters or other childcare nights in become important. Weekday evenings tend to be getting to bed early so not to be tired at work if the kids wake up at some silly time of the morning / middle of the night. I bet a very large proportion of Netflix customers have young families, I would imagine the 25 - 40 age bracket is their largest customer base.

Wind was my first thought as well. For quad-copters the simple fact is the lack of collective pitch does massively affect the maneuverability in adverse conditions. You need a high volume of airflow over the blades to compensate and fixed pitch there is not much you can do to increase airflow without climbing rapidly. (although whether you could do it with an octocopter with four of the blades pulling down and four pushing up to counteract the climb?) There are plenty of model sized helicopters (even some microhelis with 8" blades can handle 15mph with a skilled pilot) that handle wind very well - they just need a high head speed.

iirc the most recorded for an electric eel was about 600volts and a bit over 1 amp. Wikipedia claims 500v, 1amp produced through a series of cells each producing 0.15v. Of course this discharge is pretty short, each pulse being incredibly quick. Not sure on electric eels, but electric catfish can only discharge once every hour or so as it takes time for them to charge up again.

You can use a heat source only for heating from above (you can get ceramic heaters that fit in a normal light socket), but you still need UVB - mercury vapour lamps (I assume that is what you are asking about) put out lots of UVB, visable light and heat. At the base level I assume it is still a light - the UV aspect is created by a phosphor coating on the inside of the glass. I believe (but may be wrong) that mercury vapour lights put out more lumens per watt than a normal incandescent.

  19. Re:the poor reptiles on US To Extinguish (Most) Incandescent Bulb Sales By 2012 · · Score: 1

Maybe true with (some?) snakes (so I hear, I don't keep snakes), but many lizards including bearded dragons can only sense heat from the top, mainly through the head. Look a few mm back and between the eyes of a bearded dragon and you will see a small dot. This is often referred to as 'the third eye' and is instrumental in sensing correct heat and UV levels. Heating only from below or by a heat rock is very dangerous as they cannot regulate temperatures and will either be far to cold and unable to digest food or get badly burnt.

Mercury vapour lamps which output high levels of heat & UV are generally considered superior to the standard incandescent & flourescent UV combo a lot of people use, and presumably wouldn't be covered by this law. (if you're interested www.uvguide.co.uk has a lot of info on UV lighting for reptiles - I have no connection with the site)

I dropped out of college after 8 months, and never went to university, I run a successful IT support company and over the past few years have had staff, offices and so on. I now work from home by myself as I enjoy it more, i'm earning a good amount and haven't run up huge debts like I would have at university. I have to work long hours, but I get more flexibility overall - if I don't have a meeting then I can take some time off to spend doing what I want to do.

If I was at university i'd be graduating about now with huge debts.

BUT, I was always an awful student, never handed in any work (although i excelled in exams so scrapped by). Anyone who thinks dropping out is the easy route is wrong. You have to work just as hard, if not harder and be very self motivated. But it can be done as proven by many top businessmen and women, but it doesn't always work out, look at a lot of other people who have dropped out.

I may decide to go to university one day, but it'll be when i'm ready and know exactly what I want to get out of it, not going just because people expect me to go to university at after college to earn a degree in something I may never use afterwards.

I know many of my friends who go to university enjoy it hugely and have lined up excellent jobs for when they graduate.
I'm not saying university is wrong, just that it's not right for everyone.

    Just my opinion :)
