A lot of people go to Youtube just to watch content ripped from TV shows. Suppose that was reliably eliminated- would the site's appeal still be as high? If not, then it doesn't really represent a new paradigm, just a parasite on the old.
Apple uses Akamai for the ITMS and hasn't had any problems with it outside of a couple of days following a major feature or content launch. Granted, they're only selling audio and 480p video, but it's obviously doable..
It sounds like it would be very easy for the networks to degrade the accuracy of the filter by introducing commercial-break-like elements into the regular programming.
Until someone mods the Xbox 360, they've effectively removed that ability from it as well. The DVD firmware hack will only let it run copied games, not unsigned code.
I hope you're being sarcastic, because you're just as off-base as the post you're replying to.

He's right that, by and large, customers aren't asking for compatibility. Nerds on Slashdot are asking for compatibility. The millions upon millions of laymen who bought the lion's share of iPods barely even realize it's an issue.
It may not be the choice of you or me, but I can easily understand the mindset that would rather put up with ads than pay up-front for TV. The indirect funding is what lets anyone who pays a one-time price for a minimum amount of equipment see OTA programming for free.
Very, very few people buy an iPod because it's the only player that will work with the ITMS, or with ITMS music they've already bought. They buy iPods because of a combination of Apple's marketing, sticker price, the "look" of the thing, and a thousand other reasons that feature-obsessed geeks barely even comprehend, let alone base purchase decisions on.
And if you absolutely cannot stand to eat Burger King food because your stomach will explode or something, just throw the food away or give it to a homeless guy or something. Think of it as a $10 game and it's still a steal.
They're either counting each direction along an axis separately, which is dumb and/or tricksy marketing, or they're counting movement and rotation separately for the 3 axes, which is actually pretty close to an accepted technical term.
He'd prefer that the supernode feature be removed entirely and Skype calls only ever consume the resources of the consenting parties directly involved in it.
Microsoft is offering to give you a free Zune copy of any song you already bought from Apple. I expect this offer to last about 45 seconds before someone figures out how to spoof.m4p files.
Apparently he thinks that BT was created in order for him to get warez and movies faster, and that "the creator" is somehow failing in his responsibilities by not facilitating this. Which is silly as the creator has always maintained that he developed BT as just a transport mechanism and tried to distance himself from "the scene" whenever given the chance.
All of these problems will be solved if the device streams the compressed file and then performs the decompression itself- the Airport Express does not do this. Audio/video synch wouldn't be an issue because they're both coming out of the iTV. Press a volume key and the volume changes instantly, because the iTV would handle that. This would also greatly decrease the load on the network and the remote Mac.
I hope you realize that if the execs decide the answer to that question is no, there won't be any more TV shows for you to torrent.

I'm going to keep calling them phones just to give the metaphorical finger to those Helio ads. YES IT IS A GODDAMN PHONE.
Microsoft is using VC-1, which is one of the Windows Media video codecs and the same codec used for the majority of next-generation DVD movies.

Humans seem to have no problem with it, so it's clearly possible.
I kinda doubt Disney would part with that particular work for any finite amount of money.

One reason gamers should be against modchips is that they enable cheating in online games (which wasn't an issue until this generation).
The fact that you had to assume that whoever reads this post has not heard of Okami means that it's not a major factor in the console wars.

How many DVD movies per second was this?
Also, they failed to provide a conversion from terabyte to Libraries of Congress.
In other news, DVDs are kicking the crap out of YouTube*.

You do know that about two weeks ago Apple did double the resolution of the videos they sell, right?
