The Thanksgiving holiday (a United States holiday dedictated to giving thanks for the harvest) occurs every year on the last Thursday in November.
[nitpick] Actually, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the third Thursday after the first Wednesday in November. So, if Nov. 1 is a Wednesday, then Thanksgiving is the second to last Thursday in the month.
The only time Thanksgiving is celebrated on the last Thursday is when the 1st of November is on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, like this year. [/nitpick]
After people pointed out that my explanation of Thanksgiving day resulted in tomorrow being Thanksgiving, I realized that I am retarded. I looked it up, and sure enough, it's the fourth Thursday. Disregard this, and anything else I might have said, due to my ignorance.
I guess thats what I get for believing what I am told...
What are you smoking? It's free advertising because it's displayed. That's like saying adverising isn't advertising because a competitor's flyer in the same Sunday newspaper beat yours. It's a crap argument.
I dunno, but you must be on that crack pipe again. The question was "Why would they want to stop free advertising?" The answer is "Because the prices are not competitive."
Nobody said that this is not free advertising except you.

No sound in space huh?! Well, maybe nothing you or I could hear, WHILE in the VACUUM of space.
Are you implying that a sound wave can be created in air, travel through a vacuum, enter another body of air and be heard? My understanding of sound is that it travels as compressed air. This to me implys that once a sound wave hits a vacuum, it can no longer travel.
I'm not trying to troll or flame, I'm just wondering if there is something more to sound waves than what I understand.
I'm sorry, how does this follow? I have a colecovision and a handful of games, that doesn't entitle me to run anything other than THOSE versions of THOSE games in mame. Also, I think that at this point more people own arcade machines than people use their colecovisions. I mean, I don't use mine at all, the controller is a suck. Ditto for my intellivision, atari VCS, super pong, atari jaguar, or most of the other video game systems I own.
I do believe the point was to say 'Not many.' That is, not many colecovision's in use, and not many legal ROM's.
Noooo! You're going to make strains of bacteria that are resistant to your bodies' natural defense mechanisms! The only way to ensure that these damn bacteria don't get out of control is to make sure you DIE every time you get sick. Otherwise, the bacteria will mutate and win.
No. This is the result of people "self-medicating". When a doctor prescribes medication for 6 weeks, if you feel better after 4 weeks, there are still bacteria in your system. The next two weeks work on killing them. If you don't kill all of them, the stronger ones that survived will evolve to be immune to the medication (gross oversimplification). When they spread to someone else, who also doesn't finish the course of meds, they will become more medication-resistant. And this is the reason we have drug-resistant bacteria.
It's all a lie! We are getting anti-biotic resistant bacteria because the drug companies (read: pill pushers) tell the doctors what to prescribe for various illnesses. Then they turn around and tell everyone that when you feel better you're still sick, so you better keep taking those pills. Meanwhile, they are busy in their secret labs off the Florida Keys genetically engineering new strains of "resistant" bacteria, while simultaniously reducing the amount of "medicine" in the "medicine" they currently produce. All this in an attempt to get you sicker so that you have to keep buying pills. That is the reason we have drug-resistant bacteria, and I know it is because I just made it up as I typed.
Think about this: If I get shot in the arm, but don't die from it, then have three childeren who all get shot and live, and they have childeren that all get shot and live, and so on for a few hundred generations, does that mean eventually my familial line will produce bullet-resistant childeren? Only if the bullets get weaker...
Sure it is. This is an anti-Microsoft thread. What the hell are you doing saying it's good? No pro-microsoft comments allowed, you trolling flame-baiter...
I'm relatively new to/., but I don't remember ever seeing any sort of stipulation that one MUST read every article that appears on the front page. Read the topic, read the synopsis. If you don't like/care about the topic, ignore it. That's what I do whenever I see any Linux/FreeBSD/Open Source/ad nauseum posts. I don't care, so I ignore it. Do I complain that it is there? No, I just ignore it. It's not terribly difficult.
What you SHOULD have said was "I;ve learned recently that the Anime I see rather annoyx me". Lumping all Anime into one group is like saying that all movies are junk because I dont like Bruce Willis.
Actually, it's more like saying "I hate Hollywood movies because I hate Bruce Willis." Anime is a sub-section of animation, just like Hollywood is a sub-section of movie.
My view on Anime as a whole is exactly what the parent said. There are a very small few that I like (Ranma, Trigun). A few bad apples can ruin the barrel of otherwise good apples. A few good apples does nothing to save the barrel of crap.
It is going to take a redefinition of the consumers and artists rights by Congress before the recording industries strangle hold on the music business is relaxed even a tiny bit. I am generally against legislated solutions however in this case it may be our only hope.
Unfortunately the RIAA has much more money, and therefore much more lobbying power, than people who share this point of view. Legislation may be the answer to the problem, but I don't think the Legislation will be in the consumer's favor. Most likely, it will be in the favor of the RIAA. Remember, the only time Congress cares about "The People" is early November. After that, it's all about who has the most money.
I can see the rest of the world adopting Linux. Fine, let them. That doesn't mean America will do it; just look at that stupid metric thing the rest of the world is all gaa-gaa over...

Or do the laws that lets you do things one way, prevent you form doing things the other way?
Of course it does. It's called the DMCA.
Oh, you mean the laws of physics? nevermind...
If someone farts in space, does it make a noise???
Yes. But the only person who would hear it is the guy in the suit it was released in. Unless he has his transmitter on...
Once the sound wave leaves the suit, it would be silent, but deadly. To the guy in the suit anyway...

Flamebait AND overrated? You people have no sense of humor...
Yeah, but that sig sucks...
Gee, I thought I even gave it away with the 'I made it up as I typed' bit too... Oh, well... flame-bait it is, I guess...
And don't forget to have someone burn your corpse. Don't want that shit spreading...
