Here's the thing: aren't blogs just websites that get updated with people's opinions? Lots of websites get updated regularly. I'd like to know why this particular use for websites has been given its own terminology and become a sort of phenomenon.
as identity theft is impossible with an ID-card system; in continental Europe, we don't even talk of it.
Curious that you've had no replies about this statement, so I'll make one.
Look, the very fact that you've said that shows the danger of ID cards. I've yet to see a human-created system that is infallible. ID CARDS ARE FALLIBLE, even if it's very rare or difficult. If somebody's identity is stolen, imagine how FUCKED they are because the attitude, 'the system is NEVER wrong', prevails. Ever consider that? Your attitude is dangerous, and if it becomes society's prevailing belief, ingrained into every child from birth, I dread to think what kind of problems a victim of the system failing would have.
May I offer a suggestion? Use a fake address, and Mailinater/Spamgourmet/throwaway Hotmail address when signing the petition. If they don't allow any of those e-mail providers, then fuck em, they're stupid, and e-mail them to tell them so.
Can anyone provide 'wish-I-would-have-known' issues regarding the politics, expectations, and monetary realities of working for a major department within a large University?"
Yes, suggestion 1: get better at English. You should've said "wish-i-had-known". That error really bugs me, so forgive me if I'm a little pedantic.

Any particular reason why PHP is better than Perl with HTML::Mason? That's what I'm using with my site now, mainly because Perl wipes the floor with PHP, imho (where are the labelled blocks?? no, i don't want to uglify things with a function wrapper). Also, the people in PHP IRC channels seem to be, um, wankers, for some reason.:-)
What I did was remove the 'autoprint' icon and replace it with the 'regular print' icon, ie. a print dialog shows up when you click it instead of immediate printing. Dunno why MS thought the latter was a good idea.
They seem to forget that they are a public corporation and it is the British public that ultimately keeps them ticking over!
Hey, when you have millions of people who support your organization blindly and without question, assuming that yours is always 'the best in broadcasting', and a culture secretary assuring you that the abolition of your free-ride licence fee is "between improbable and impossible", who cares about accountability?
I think the way it ticks forward by hour and shows you the actual progress of the rainclouds across the country is amazing...
You say that as if it's a new phenomenon. Take a look at the stuff Sky News has been putting out for as long as I've watched it. Yes, it has graphics just as detailed as the BBC's new ones, and the rain and weatherfronts move in realtime, but it somehow looks nicer and doesn't have a silly 3d angle. This stuff is not new, except maybe to BBC zealots who refuse to watch any other channels.
I'll tell you why people don't like the brown colour. Because the Earth is not shitty brown coloured. Really! Take a look!
The old green colour was not only more pleasant to the eye, but more *ACCURATE*! Also, why do they have splodges that are darker than than others? I just think that looks terrible.
... and it's why I always use Windows Grep to search through a bunch of text files. Actually, Windows search worked identically to Windows Grep back in Win9x.

Test post
1. PerlPage; embedded Perl.
2. You can try. I think I've tested it quite thoroughly.

See if my site crashes. Then guess what language it was coded in (hint: not PHP).
:-)
Yes, I know I'm probably inviting someone to destroy it now. Oh well.
2. session-handling
CGI::Session.

You can have a railgun in Counterstrike? Please tell me how.

Bottom line: you don't NEED the Microsoft OS -- you NEED the Apple OS.
And how is this better than the other way around?
Ah. Shame that they'll be switching to Intel chips pretty soon, then.
Hardly. (S)he also gave figures from Google's (former) zeitgeist and W3Cschools' statistics, both of which also say the Mac's share is at most 4%.
Management in Europe just doesn't have the courage to support Open Source. They hide behind the mantra of: "Nobody ever got fired for choosing IBM".
Um, isn't that just the same in the US, if you just s/IBM/Microsoft/ ?
I'm a Brit who saw that film. 0 out of 10. It was so fucking awful it made me want to vomit and leave about 10 minutes in.
Talk about any excuse to get British film onto the big screen...
Looks like you managed to weasle out of spelling, too.
Well I kinda came up with my own political philosophy a while back, maybe it's a form of democracy, I don't know... also, it needs a better name. :-)

AOL is being pushed back out the door to live on its own (like a middle-aged chronically unemployed geek being kicked out by mom finally).
I love it when you use analogies that we can understand.
It seems to me a single "IBM nipple" style directional controller is all my phone really needs.
I bet they'd sell well. Everyone likes playing with nipples!

Right. That's because of this piece of stupidity from someone as MS: Using the "A word or phrase in the file" search criterion may not work
