Even though FOX has killed too many great shows in the past, they currently have one of the best dramas out there, 24
Which oddly enough I think the only way you can enjoy the series is by watching the DVDs, where the episodes are back-to-back to one another.
The largest cable provider with 20 million subscribers could blow the doors off of these music wars. Think Video-on-demand but put to music, and a USB port on the cable box. At the size and scale that Comcast could serve it could be very cheap and a much better option to your usual consumer. And forget about the micro-payment hassles since everything can be added to your monthly bill. So imagine just paying $5-10 more to your cable bill (a pinch in the bucket to the already high bills), you get all the music that the other online offerings have, all streamed through your cable box that's already connected to your entertainment center and has a remote. And for maybe just $0.25-50, you can have a song downloaded to your Creative, or RIO to use on the go.
Anyone here doubt that they arn't working on this as we speak?
Sadly they are all switching to HPs. I was told that they're still the same exact network that they had with the Macs but with just with new fancier terminals.
Netflix starts at only $20, and the 3 months I've had it I've gone through all of these TV series CSI:1,2 24:1, DS9:1, Farscape:1, Space Ghost, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sopranos:4, Mr. Show, and Alias:1. The added benefit of renting the shows is that I can watch the show in succession, from beginning to end, and don't have the problem of joining a season in the middle, which I absolutly hate (esp. with a show like 24).
Netflix is great I have the 5-Disk deal and I've only spent $90 so far, and I can usually go through around 20-25 disks a month giving me a savings of around $150-285, of regular rental places. Maybe this saveings in time will be enough to get that TiVo.
Anyone else concerned about this new relationship w/ Pepsi?
I mean almost exactly 20 years ago Steve asked the infamous words to the then Pepsi CEO John Sculley, "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want to change the world?". and we all know what happened after that.
So in the case of the iMac, you are going to have to buy the bluetooth card, unless it says something like 'bluetooth included'. I know of a couple of friends being caught on this one.
So you have dumbass friends who got all messed up in that schmancy-pancy wording, ok now move along
What makes the stand only work w/ a Powerbook? Isn't it just a clip?
It seems odd to me that Apple expensed on no less than three mounts out of the box. I would think that one simple mount would work just fine with either a CRT or a LCD, if made right. They could of made the iSight under the $100 mark with just one simple mount, and offer the Powerbook mount for just $20-$30, or even just left it to third partys to make it. Maybe I need to get to an Apple store to see these mounts more closely to understand.
Damn, Tub Girl is just bad...so...ummm...did anyone else notice how they faded out her snatch? Just seems kinda odd to me that they took the time to fade that out but... they leave everything else?
Ok...now if you look at the header you would notice that I think that the TiVo is great technology, and I have no qualms with how great you think the TiVo is, I'm sure it is. I just find no need to have to pay $14 a month for really no added content, just a service that I could find elsewhere on the TV guide channel or online freely. But I do realize that its not shot up on to my TiVo so I have to pay a 'service' charge for it to just work properly like it says on the box, and I just find that stupid.
It was called Ultimate TV, and it bombed
Now I don't recall them offering Halo on the Ultimate TV, nor do I remember them offering you to Internet services on your TV while you watch friends either...So no, they haven't brought this together on the Ultimate TV, so please try again.
And it will likely feel as crappy and kludged together as all of those homebrew linux on tv projects
Hasn't time proven that this the perfect MS buisness plan??
I am sure TiVo is good technology...

Should Apple Buy TiVo?

but really, tell me exactly who is willing to buy a nearly $300 box and then pay $14 a month after that for it to just work properly, and for the the privilege for all of there TV viewing habits to be sold off to marketers? People who are, are stupid, and the company that thinks that this is a decent business plan is even stupider. Apple's not stupid, and they wont be touching a subscription based company, BTW isn't iTunes suppose to be so great because it isn't subscription based?
At this very moment MS has the technology to just roll over TiVo within the year, they have the Xbox, WebTV, and Windows Media Player, toss all of this into box added with the usual MS marketing and you got a killer app. that will kill TiVo and all the other PVRs at the moment, and anyone in the industry should know this and would balk at attempting to go up against it--everyone except for the likes of Sony. Sony is the only one with the resources, name, and establishment to beat MS to the punch, too bad for TiVo, Sony likes to keep things in house and won't be knocking on there door to buy them out.
And what Linux is what, around 1? If you are refering to marketshare Linux is still the minority.
If its not on Mac I wount use it. As much as the same as the Kewl Linux Geeks screaming about if something isn't ported/suported on there fav OS it don't matter to them. The same thing applies if it dosn't support Macs->its no use to me and a lot of people.
What??..
Who in there right mind even says the 'WWW's anymore, its implied. Its Slashdot.org, Amazon.com, Apple.com, Google.com... ect., if you still pronouce the "ach-tee-tee-pee-colon-slash-slash-double-u double-u double-u (or dub dub dub as you say it) -dot-whatever-dot-com" I would thank you are a freaking retard. Even if I was a newb I would understand that is a URL just by the.com, and just have to put in *.com in any browser in use today and it'll take me right there. So your tech support is doing what? Trying to talk down to us or just being stupid?
$999 for a brand spanking new iBook, it's quite possably the sweatest laptop out there, esp. at that price point. The price is right and the batttery life is excelent; Screen, size and weight is the absolutelty the perfect for portability. If you can make a laptop at this price and with the same specs your too much of a computer guru for me to even begin to be talking too, and I should cower to you're 31337'ness.
So when was the last time you went to Apple's website? I don't see any resemblance to any thing at Apple.
Although I could just be drinking too much of the kool-aid, and thinking that nothing can be as good as the mother ship.
Can I now opt out on the Federal Copyright Feetoo?

Apple needs Best Buy like my ass needs a hemorrhoid... Look at computer sales, who is making money now days? Dell (yea), Apple (somewhat), anyone else? (not really)... neither of those companies sale threw BB, that might tell you something, BB don't mean shit.
I am personally thinking that maybe people are learning they don't have to go to crappy retail store, and attempt to ask questions that the pimply faced clerks that know jackshit could ever answer. They could simply going online and buying it from there, saves on gas, lugging and usually money, w/ little to no hassle and you usually get exactly what you want, relatively speaking of course.
Fine then I'll just do it properly and use the shortcuts "Cmd+C" and "Cmd+V", and say damn you you pinky loving fienes.
Of course then arn't you just asking for some kind of ultra-fancy one of these?
Check that... they are in Redmond.
And to me in Seattle that is the East Side.
