But what if there is no "buffer zone". Why isn't it possible that Neo has become so attuned to the Matrix that he is actually able to hack in without the help of computers and an operator? Once inside the Matrix he could certainly stop the sentinels as he could find a way through the security systems in place in the matrix.
I think that Neo's connection to the matrix is shared by Bane as well. That is why they are both in commas, and that is why they both do seemingly impossible things (Bane setting off an EMP (obviously Smith's work) and Neo stopping the sentinels)
I was a war3x beta tester.
If you like war3, you will *LOVE* war3x. War3 is an incredible game and war3x expands upon it adding numerous new features that truely enhance game play. It really isn't just some expansion slapped together with a few new units and a new type of map to sell copies. It was well thought out and has quite a few gameplay improvements. Blizzard really deserves a hand for war3x, it was above and beyond what I was expecting in an expansion (after seeing Broodwar that is!)
There is someone who apparently works at AMD over at the Bit-Tech forums who has been giving out unofficial information that seems to have quite a bit of merit to it. So make sure to check out what he is saying as he knows quite a bit about what he is talking about: Bit-Tech Forums (Remember, what he says isn't official, though)
An e-voter system would be truely useless, and here is why:
There are two types of people who don't vote:
1. People who do not know anything about the issues/candidates along with people who don't care
2. People who disapprove of the candidates who are running.
You really don't want the first type of person voting because an uninformed voter is either going to vote straight down party lines, or even worse, just pick random people to vote for. The second type of person still won't vote because they have some fundamental problem with the candidates who are running and therefor have made the decision not to vote.
It isn't that hard to take a quick trip to your local townhall/voting area. Putting a ballot online will just create an election filled with people who know nothing about the issues and are just clicking buttons.
Consider yourself lucky, and possibly the only satisfied Adelphia user I have ever seen in my life.
As an Adelphia user myself I am subject to excruciatingly slow speeds (I generally get 20-50KBps w/ an accelerator.. The highest I've ever maxed out at was 250 for roughly a second.) I've had weeks at a time where my speeds were that of 56k and 128k ISDN., disconnects, and horrible DNS (down very often...)
Many people also have tons of problems with the Adelphia mail servers which are about as reliable as windows 3.1.
I would find it unbelievable if DSL could be slower than the internet I have now.
Even if a computer case was airtight it wouldn't explode (air would just leave the outtake holes faster)
A lot of the air goes out the small gaps in your case (for example, the bottom, top, and sides of the case door) and anywhere on the case that there is a seam. Conversely, if you have negative pressure, air will come in these holes along with a boatload of dust.
Don't limit your case selection based on which have filters in the front! You can always get some filters and pop them in there. This is one of the filters I have used: http://www.directron.com/cr212nd.html -- These filters are great on dust. I have filters on all of the intake fans on my PC and have had nearly no dust in there. Just remember to clean them!!
Remember one other thing, filters are only half of the equation. To really get rid of dust you need positive airflow. What this means is, you need more air flowing in than you have flowing out. (But not too much, or it will be bad for your cooling) 10-20cfm is a good amount of extra air to have blowing in. This positive airflow creates a bit of pressure in the case which helps push dust out of the case.
It really is amazing how much filters and a bit of positive airflow can help. Try it and I guarentee as dust free a case as one can get!
Sure all these programs help, but think about what creates spam in the first place.
There are clearly people out there willing to buy the things offered in spam. Obviously not that many, but enough to make a profit. I think that there should be more of an effort to target these people and tell them not to buy stuff from spam!
There is only so much a program can do to stop spam. As we've seen numerous programs have been made, Spam Assasin being one of the best (I use it), but the spam just keeps coming
Until there is no incentive to send spam in the first place people will do it despite any laws against it.
The problem probably was niether vibration nor heat. Harddrives are made so that they can withstand high g-forces. Some review sites have said you could throw a harddrive against a wall while it is running and it would be fine. How true this is, I don't know, but I know fan vibrations are no where near large enough to cause a problem. While continued fan virbrations theoretically could be bad, fans don't vibrate all that much. I've used fans missing fins (don't ask!) that virbrate like crazy and never had problems (Not for long though, I generally replace those with non-broken fans)
Heat is one of those things computer geeks fear most. We all want to get it as low as possible. Well let me tell you a little something about harddrive heat: Unless you have a drive spinning at 10,000 rpm or higher, you really have nothing to worry about. If HDD's weren't meant to withstand a bit of heat then you would be hearing about a lot of unhappy customers. My hdd's are warm to the touch, but that is fine, they are well within the limits. Now if it burns your finger when you touch it, then you are probably going to be having problems with all the other components in your computer as well.
Harddrives die. And they die often. If you haven't had one die in a long time, then you have been very lucky. I've had 3 drives die on me in the last 2 years. Granted 2 were IBM Deathstars, the third was a different brand. They weren't all that hot and they did not have any fans vibrating near them too much either. They just die, HDDs are not as reliable as many of us would like. (Can't wait for solid state hdd's:) )
If you decide that everything I have just said is crap and want to take the paranoid way out, that's fine! You know what they say: Better safe than sorry!
So here's what you should do:
1. Get some grommets for that fan. They will reduce fan vibrations to practically nothing. They'll also make the fan quieter too! You can pick these up from PCMods: http://www.pcmods.com/details.asp?ProdID=20
2. Get a HDD cooler. They will cool your hdd a lot more than a fan that's blowing air over it will. While I'm at the pcmods site, I might as well link there. If you shop around you will probably find better prices. Lower end cooling solution: http://www.pcmods.com/details.asp?ProdID=46 Higher end: http://www.pcmods.com/details.asp?ProdID=452 (Even has an LCD!)
I just want to stress this again: You don't NEED these two products unless you have an ultra-fast SCSI hdd. Your hdd should be well within its limits with some small vibrations and a bit of heat. But if you want to spend some money, I'm not about to stop you!

There is actually a whole website devoted to this topic:

I was trying to find an article that didn't have much spin to it (hah, yeah right) and unfortunately basically everyone was either saying the fact that he deserted was the worst thing ever to happen in history, or it was good for the country.
We have had a "No Call List" for a while now. I think it has been a couple years. It was a free signup, and once you sign up the telemarketing calls just stop. (A few months after of course)
I still get calls from charities and non-profits occasionally, but I have only received ONE telemarketer phone call ever since I signed up. And I informed them that I was on the do not call list, and they just hung up since they can be fined.
A national one would be great. It really wouldn't matter here in CT that much, but hey, nothing wrong with another barrier against telemarketers!
Well, I beleive if can be summed up with one word: Ego.
What would give you a bigger boost to your already inflated ego than handing out bobblehead dolls of yourself?
CEO handing out the dolls:
for(i=0;i=NUM_EMPLOYEES;i++)
{
ego++;
}

Ironically enough, my Opera crashed on me when I viewed this... Looks like there's still some work to do ;)

First china, what's next!? It's a good thing Microsoft isn't challenging google!
Yeah, I had this PC once and it was like beep beep beep... it was awful.
And naturally the best way to help out the Al-Jazeera website while it is being attacked is to /. it.

I agree with you. There's no reason parent's can't be involved in the videogame buying process.
To be honest, this is a good thing. MAVAV will have less to argue about if parents are allowing their children to buy M rated games.
You can buy case handles for a low amount at places like pcmods and Frozen CPU for fairly a fairly good price. They are easy to install, too.
Just another thing copied off the Mac, huh? ;)
Does this look like they just glued two cases together to anyone else?
just 50 chicken eggs.
Not that many, I mean, everybody has 50 eggs laying around just in case... right?
