More mature people play horde?
I don't know what realm you play on, but the general consensus that I've gotten, mostly from Twilight's Hammer, but also from other people I talk to, is that the horde population is made up of 14-year olds.
This would explain the lack of BG games around dinner time, and after 22.00 in the evening.
What's wrong with some bike tools, a map and a compass? You WILL be travelling ON the roads I hope? Regarding safety, my best recommendation would be to bring a friend. Not only are you less likely to get mugged if there are two of you, but any medical situations that might arise are probably more easily taken care of if there are two of you. It's not like you're going to be able to stave off a band of highway bandits with a 9mm anyway...
You do NOT need a laptop on a cross-country bike ride. The goal of which is to ride a bike, not to check your email. I'm sure you'll pass atleast oen internet café on the way somewhere.
The most high-tech thing I'd bring on such a journey is a cellphone and/or some kind of emergency radio.
I'm going to assume that you know something about cycling already, since you're attempting this, but if you don't, you need to know to keep everything LIGHT. You do not want to pack any more weight on your bike, or yourself, than is absolutely necessary.
So stick to the low-tech stuff, and don't be affraid to stop and ask for assistance.
Hasn't the president of IBM said something along these lines before? Granted, this was some 40-50 years ago, but still... Or maybe that was that there would be a world wide need for no more than 5 computers... Ahh, those were the days =)
This is such a tiresome subject. Let them bundle whatever the hell they want. If people want to install other software that they think is better, they can. When microsoft starts denying users to install software, then I'll join in the outrage.
Applew Knew about this, they had to.
Products that are due for release in 12 months typically have a long period of research behind them.
When apple floated the idea about switching to intel, IBM must have approached them and talked to them about this new technology.
With this in mind, I'm guessing apple weren't convinced, and thus, this might not be such a big thing as we are elad to believe.
No really, my heart goes out to thoose poor investigators.
I mean, why should they do their job when we can just giftwrap the evidence and present it to them in a nice package.
It's like saying "if you are a terrorist, please que here for termination"...
Why on EARTH would I want a color screen?
Isn't this a discussion about not having a bloated phone. I can't think of a single use for a color screen unless your phone comes with camera or xhtml/wap capabilities. and even wap is a poor justifier for a color screen.
I've written a small thing on this very subject actually, a coupel of weeks back.
I've always wondered why it is that people write as poorly as they do, when it comes to writing online.
My guess is that it's because they want to express themselves in the same way, and at the same speed as they would if they were talking to you. This, of course, mostly applies to emails and IMs and irc and such.
I know I'm not a great speller, but I do tend to get my grammar correctly. Also, what my brain doesn't catch, the spellchecker usually does.
or is RMS just some old fucking nut who's been getting way too much publicity? I mean I appreciate everything he did with gnu in the past, but lately, he's been out there in conspiracy theory land with the rest of the nuts. I just hope that peopel get there opinions from other sources too, rather just the rants of this one possible deranged man. It seems that whenever he opens his mouth, it's to berate something, or belittle somebodys efforts.
...does netscape automatically render pages known to e "safe" with MSIE? I thought the whole point of not using MSIE was to NOT use it. I mean, when I use netscape, I want netscape, not some other substandard browser running things in the background. This will cause a shitstorm for developers running netscape.
just buy any motherboard out there, there are very few bad ones, and if you don't want to pay more for extra gadgets, just get whichever one is cheapest...
GPL is, in my opinion, not a true open-source license. sure, it lets you llook at the source code for a certain program, but that's where the openness stops. It's absolutely horrid to require someone who used you, supposedly, open sourcecode to re-publish anything he or she has done with it. And it becauses inescapably clear in this case that the GPL isn't as good a license as people are lead to believe. To me, the only REALLY open license is the BSd license, and other licenses that affort the same, or more, freedoms, but that doesn't impose restrictions on the user.
so does this mean that we the normal users have to delay for a month to get these patches, or are they acctually always ready a month before they reach windowsupdate?
I do my best not to converve energy, actually as we all know, the byproduct of poorly engineered systems that use energy, is that they also generate heat. well with something like 17-18 degrees C in my dorm, I keep all the heaviest peices of computing gear I have running, just to ehat the damn place. had this not been the case, I still think I would do little about the electrical energy I consume, howerver I wouldn't buy an suv when something smaller and more efficient will do
To be honest, the GIMP UI sucks worse than anything I have ever seen.
For a "professional" app, it's extremely unusable, and from what I've seen of Paint.NET (I found it some time before it appeared on slashdot), it's the new piece of software to beat.
And before the zealots go wild on this post, actually THINK about what I'm saying, and don't rail me because I used the words GIMP and sucks in the same sentence.
What does open source ACTUALLY have to do with what os you run it on?
I mean, the idea of open source is to keep the SOURCE open and free, not to use it as a fighting word for *nix advocacy.
I beleive that open source can fare jsut as well on virtually any platfor, and I, as developer, would love to see my software used by as many people as possible, not just the "privileged ones" that run an open source OS.
Tying ideological advocacy (open source is good) to OS preference (the right tool for the right job I say) is just plain stupid.
people should be able to distinguish between the two.
Linux doesn't EQUAL opensource, just because it USES opensource.
One of my unversity professors is the father of Jonas Salling, the guy who wrote the Salling clicker, and he and alot of others at my school use it frequently with great results.
I've seen it used both with an ericson t68i bluetooth phone, and with palm bluetooth pdas.
I suggest you try it.
Ok, I can understand that the fact ath 911 was the number being redirected to puts this in another class of hacks, btu that hack as a concept, isn't very dangerous.
had it been set to call SCOs helpline or whatever, people would be singing a different tune...
Now, how the hell did it endanger either the public, or their safety.
The public is NOT a specified group of 18-21 people, it just isn't. And at no time was their safety endagered, since they stood to loose neither health nor property... (unless by property, you mean the temporary ability to connect to ther internet, but if that's property, than virtually all ISPs are guilty of endangering the public safety)
For each one of these episodes that get's posted here, I get more and more happy that I don't live in the US.
This is just a preamble.
My guess is he's planning to run for some kind of office in the next election, or more likely, the one after that.

You'd think this'd rank higher than just a headline note on the front page...

They aren't begging for forgiveness, this is jsut a satirical retort. it's an open-palm slapp in googles face.

Read "Stel Pavlou - Decypher" about atlantis, religion, and why we have it (it's not a religous book, it's a book about cracking codes)
