I meant that no one had mentioned it in the comments.
the controller vibration was supported in the DC version. i found the PS2 vibrator... disturbing.
I don't doubt that racism is around in any of its myriad forms, but it took me two years to find an IT job out of college, with an applicable degree and applicable experience, and i'm white.
i do know that in all the tech firms i've been around there have been lots of dudes (and a growing number of ladies) from almost every race or country you could name... except for black people. i have seen such a small number of black people working in IT that i'm surprised on the rare occasion i do see it. whether it's a question of race bias in hiring, in education, somewhere else, a combination? i couldn't tell you.
We just tested a babblebox like this at work yesterday. It is COMPLETELY ineffective. In fact, it almost has the opposite effect - by sounding like a bunch of background conversations, it's quite easy to pick out one - the real one - over all the others!
if apple had been trumpeting "UNIX SYSADMINS: NEVER USE GREP AGAIN!" then they would have been over-hyping in the extreme. as it is, spotlight is the best answer we currently have to "i saved my thingie and now i can't find it!" syndrome. it has its flaws, and some will be ironed out. what's the big deal? besides, it is possible to turn it off - google for turn spotlight off. done.
I work at a small computer shop, and spyware/adware is the #1 reason we get customers in. Most of the time people fell for the popups saying "Your computer is infected with spyware - do you want to remove it?" *click* Within an hour there are 5 different versions of coolweb installed.
a HUGE thing is not to plagarize code. I was a TA for CS101 at my school, and plagarism is not only rampant, but really really easily detectable. besides, you don't learn anything; although, as one of my professors said, "if you can copy someone else's code and alter it so I can't tell, you may as well have actually done the assignment."
If you opt-out during the period where they're collecting applications from members of the class, then you still have the legal right to sue. That's how class-action suits work. Don't complain about a system like this when you don't understand it. I'm not saying that you'd stand a chance in hell in a lawsuit against the RIAA by yourself (I signed up and got my check a long time ago because that's all I'll ever get from the bastards) but know your rights before you bitch about them.
... check out boston's south station wifi bubble - it has exactly what the poster is asking. just a wifi network with unroutable addresses and a discussion board talking about how much ennui fills the place and how cute that chick is over there.
entertaining while you wait for your train:)
like the three-color problem. we replace patience and time with a computer. nifty, perhaps even useful, but not very interesting, from a mathematical or even an artificial intelligence perspective.
"We may have to give up project planning, quality control, coding standards, accountability, version control, and support, but it's FREE and we get the ability to modify the source code ourselves, something that is extremely dangerous to do, was discredited decades ago, and few people do anyway."
As we all know, long ago, modifying source was shown to be the leading cause of bugs. It's about time someone put two and two together!
it seems that all that was royally messed up was that ethernet driver.
most of the other problems seem to be the ones that always seem to crop up that don't make any sense ("i installed the update, and the left half of my monitor caught fire. i repaired permissions, rebooted, deleted safari's cache files, and the fire went out.")
the federal patent office awarded a patent on space to jeff bezos today. as a result, all extraterrestrial bodies are required to license their existence.

Nobody mentions Rez? Sure it had a PS2 version, but the dreamcast one actually ran better. And it was astounding.

my mac mini 1.42 with 1GB RAM runs WoW beautifully. Unless there's something odd afoot, my guess is that 1GB is WoW's sweet spot.

Here we go again! *laugh track and wacky music*
haha, i had a prof that did that. although i have to say that original powerpoint slides aren't any more interesting than plagarized ones.

I'd like to announce the unveiling of my new website, http://www.iwilltotallyhax0ryourmac.com/evil_page. htm

not only will the microwave power supplies provide wireless electricity, but also a supply of delicious fried pigeons.

object oriented genes.
a really expensive tv that needs batteries and is easy to walk off with! i've been waiting for this for a long time now.
"What's that, Cecil, down below?" "I think it's an army!" "Take the balloon lower, Cecil!"
