This exactly. I don't see cord cutting as has reached it peak by along shot. If any thing, it is just now really beginning to take off. Cable TV, as it has been, days are numbered. Even the broadcasters know that. It is why you have Disney and CBS trying to start up their own streaming systems.

I predict that that cable tv's current business model might have 10 years left. Then we are going to see a more networks start off with their own apps on a device like Ruko. Now the question will be if we will have to pay for all those services. My thinking is we will not. I doubt people will pay 10 a month for dozens of different channel apps and subscription service.

It's got nothing to do with systemd. Most users don't know or care if the system is running systemd or init. It's only an important topic for system admins.

The reason that people are not abandoning Windows for Linux is pretty simple. Windows is a much better, and supported, general purpose operating system for the desktop. It has more tools for doing general office work, desktop publishing, and video editing that Linux has. This is just the nature of the beast.

But that doesn't make Linux useless for the desktop. I've noticed that Linux desktops tend to occupy more specialist niches. An this is where the Linux desktop shines. You can completely customize it for the individual task. The fact that it comes with tools to do this out of the box is a bonus.

Severs is a different story. Outside of active directory I really can't think of many things that Windows Server outshines Linux on. Linux simple makes a far better general purpose server than Window Server does. Infact if it wasn't for AD I doubt that Windows Server would have the presents it does.

The DVR service was horrible, 20 hours or 30 days I think, and they only allowed 2 streams. Three if you where willing to pitch in a extra $5. Then they where going to raise the price $5 for the package I had. I kicked cable to the curb for that bullshit.

PSvue is superior to directvnow but doesn't have the history channel. Which is why I left it and went with directv now. But I've found that, for me, nether directv now or psvue are worth $50+ a month. I found that Philo, $14 a month has everything my family wants and is pretty cheap.

I broke my moderation to point something out here. Does any one really think that we are going to sit by and let major cities flood? We have had this technology for centuries called dikes. Many cities are built below sea level and surrounded by dikes that do just fine.

Of course this doesn't mean there won't be other problems. *cough*New Orleans*cough* But I don't see us just sitting around and letting billions of dollars worth of realestate flood when it can be prevented.
