  1. (sigh) on Xbox Wireless Adapter Info Leaked · · Score: 1

First of all, the chipset IS the design. Have you looked at a wireless card lately? The RF shield goes over the whole thing. The rest is just interface buffering (impedance/voltage matching, I/O arbitration), and maybe a ROM.

D-Link buys designs. Linksys buys designs. Netgear buys designs. I wasn't trying to put Microsoft down, I was trying to express how OBVIOUS it was that Microsoft would have this too, seeing as there would be no excuse (x86 platform and all, no wifi stack/firmware changes or rewrites needed, etc.)

it doesn't really extract "musical themes" per se. It is a purely statistical engine, using simple filterbanks (FFT) to partition and quantify the sound. It then picks the "most statistically important" pieces back together in a semi-intelligent manner.

This is sort of like taking a bunch of photos, taking all the common/important parts out, and stitching them into a new photo. I guarantee you it would look sort of like a person (cobbled together from different people) standing in front of a mixmash of backgrounds. See this
The topic has been researched extensively by many fields of science, and the verdict is out: green, not yellow. Any introductory textbook in anatomy, human perception, digital signal/video processing, or even a desktop encyclopedia can tell you all this.

The cone for green is most sensitive to a wavelength of about 531 nanometers. This has been measured both by subjective tests and objectively by activating individual chemicals found in the cones. If you are wondering whether the brain perceives a different color (i.e. yellow) when that cone is active (by itself), then here is a test you can do: find an LED which emits light at 530 or so nm and observe it. I will bet you a few cool million that it will be distinctly green. If you don't believe me, you can buy one and try it.

By the way (unrelated) that company sells really cheap, really bright LEDs that most other companies will gouge you for. I highly recommend them if you plan on doing case modding, alternative lighting, etc.

    1) Slowest speed possible doesn't mean best burn. You may actually have to experiment. Frequently higher speed drives have less-than-accurate servos and do better when they aren't trying to keep the speed down. Pick a slower integer factor of the highest rated speed and use that.

    2) Buy a lot of CDs, and not only back up the CDs, but have a schedule where you regularly duplicate older copies onto new media. CD-Rs can have short lifetimes (and can be damaged during handling). Check your md5sums after each burn, and maybe write the last 8 digits on the disc itself for quick verification.
