Unless your in Australia. In which case unless they are specifically employing you for research, anything you come up with is entirely your own property.
I know at least two people who are currently running their own (albeit very small) companies founded on projects they started while doing undergraduate engineering degrees.

And as for 'systems programming' well DUH. Your first language is where you learn the basics of programming, before you start taking systems programming you should also have a lower level course ideally in something like assembly language (even if its just on emulated hardware) or C. You'd think that wouldn't you? But then I took a course in "Operating Systems Internals" which turned out to be entirely in Java. To this very day I'm still asking my self why...

Its a nice ides, but not very well thought out. The only reason the west was a frontier was because almost anyone could find a way out there. But the prohibitive cost of getting to mars will mean very few people will go and only for specific purposes. Therefore if anyone does go, chances are they will be there to set up Microsoft style infrastructure not to do anything with opensource.

Unlike traditional protective clothing that only protects against alpha radiation, the new fabric developed by the Florida-based company Radiation Shield Technologies also blocks beta and gamma rays. All three are emitted by the decay of radioactive substances and X-rays.

Ummm... a thin peice of paper has the ability to block alpha radiation. As a matter of fact high energy electromagnetic radiation (gamma and x rays) are teh only form of radiation your skin can't stop.

And anyway I would like to know how you manage to justify calling him a terrorist, he didn't gain access to any classified networks, he didn't destroy any of the networks he broke into and most importantly I fail to see how any of his actions could possibly result in terror of any kind.
