First, when the lights go red, traffic congests and it becomes harder for an emergency vehicle to get through because the traffic flow has stopped.
Secondly, for states that have a right-turn-on-red law, people would be able to go regardless of the light going red (they are supposed to look, but some people are stupid) so they couldn't be SURE people would not be there.
And, as others have pointed out, no emergency vehicles go blaring through red lights at top speed....
See above link for a history of personal underwatercraft...my personal favorite was the VASH from 1996--I remember drooling over that Hammacher Schlemmer catalog and dreaming of diving and flying in a machine like that.....
But then again one can approve of something while still thinking it to be among the weaseliest of all. In the case of Dubya, he might be a weasel, but a weasel doing his job well.
But do you think they had time to DO "proper porting" with a constrained timetable for the Mac release?
Remember....before you port the code to the Mac, it needs to be finished for the PC....so the development time for the Mac version was likely significantly strained in order to meet the launch date.
Remember the converse: Improperly ported code is simply crap.
The proper arrangement of the words (based on the porting argument) is: "Mac games suck."
It is not the Mac that sucks--it is the game software that sucks. As has been proven over and over, When developers actually care about the performance of an application on the Mac (rather than merely its existence) they can tune it to be as fast or faster than its x86 brethren.
That being said, no one buys a Dual G5 strictly for games--while plenty of gamers will rush for the Alienware Aurora no doubt. I am USING a Dual G5 right now and I have played my share of before-mentioned "sucky Mac Games" and they are plenty fast for me....280 vs 350 FPS isn't really gonna make a difference...my eyes can't tell the difference, and no one's reflexes are that good.

I want me a Lawnmower!
Homer's Lawn Mower
ingredients:
2oz. vodka
1 bunch wheatgrass instructions:
place wheatgrass in a juicer to yield 6oz.
mix wheatgrass juice with 2oz. vodka
makes 1 8oz. serving
That G5 came stock with 2 video outputs (the second one is DVI, and a VGA converter cable is included.) Grab one of your old monitors and use it as the second. They don't have to match at all, don't you know.
Yeah...I know. Problem is, when I upgraded, the old rig went elsewhere...so I lack the ability to grab one of them back. Plus, my desk isn't big enough for the G5, Cinema Display, and a CRT. I'll get there soon enough though.
Just like a Dual Processor machine--but rather than assigning a thread to a CPU, you're associating a thought process with a visual/spatial location.
I replaced my dual monitor setup with an 20 inch Apple Cinema Display when I got my new G5...but I am finding myself missing the twin screens, even despite the size and aspect ratio of the gorgeous new screen...may have to find a way to get another Cinema...and a bigger desk!
I guess it's fully possible that when my friend was talking about all the SPAM his mailbox was getting....he actually meant that the postman was stuffing large amounts of Specially Prepared Assorted Meats in with his phone bill...
Then again...the question could be which is tastier...spam, or 0xdeadbeef...
The entire point of producing a console system is to have complete dominance over what software can run on it anyway.
Maybe NOW it is, since Microsoft introduced the concept of loss-leading on the hardware...made up by software licensing.
Originally, it was to have specialized hardware to do one thing--and to do it well. I still believe very much in this philosophy. I rarely buy combination devices (such as radar detector/GPS/compass/etc, swiss army knives) because they do a lot, but not always well, and to upgrade one part, you need to re-buy the whole thing.
I use my computer as a TOOL. I get my work done on it. I communicate with my friends and family with it. It is the closest I come to a "do-all" device. But games I leave to something else. It's a personal choice--so I won't claim that everyone should do the same.
However, the idea that consoles exist solely as a means of "control" is ludicrous. I love my GameCube--because it is simple, and it works. And it has the best controller ever. YMMV....
Words of wisdom to live by. Thusfar, I've been able to get by as such....chilling with my GameCube.
But every once in a while, a great game such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will come along, and be available only for Xbox...and I begin to reconsider.
Damn I wish I had moderator points left.....HAHAHA
the one on the left is an Onyx2 though, from the previous generation.

Check your specs. The $949 EDU-only model has only a CD-ROM drive and 128MB. The Combo is $999 with 256 MB....a good $50 to spend IMO.
Maybe. I'm neutral.
Rot in Hell with this BS.
The EDU Price for the Suite is $399 (where I am, anyway)....so its a steal over the retail....activation or not.

So if you misspell the name of your candidate, Verisign will use its * wildcard to vote for its CEO automatically!
Somehow I think this cluster could beat me at Chess....especially the GNUChess that ships with OS X....
They've got 1100+...where's mine? I ordered a Dual 2.0 GHz G5 in July....still no sight. Supposed to ship on Tuesday....but online time will tell....
Sigh...Maybe they'll loan me one if mine gets delayed!
PS--anyone got the rest of these pics? There were a TON of them...Mirror? COMPLETE?
But to get to 80 MPH you need at LEAST 1.21 Gigawatts!
Well it certainly beats 0xBEEFBABE , which I believe is defined as "a girl with too much cushion for the pushin' "
Quartz Extreme, Airport Extreme, and probably more that marketing hasn't told us about yet.
I was just PRAYING earlier in the year that they wouldn't call the 970-based Power Macs "Power Mac Extreme" to follow their recent nomenclature...

I imagine this was a move to help lower machine costs. SRAM is annoyingly expensive.
UFS is supported, but not recommended for myriad reasons.
Got something against HFS/HFS+?
Because it is clearly "beyond cool." :)
