actually, i thin it would make more sense as such:
AO = NC-17
M = R
T = PG-13
E = G
The problem is people like you equating M with PG-13, M IS R, but due to the assinine double standard that Games have been given by those who beleive that Gaming is JUST for kids, the rating system is assumed to have failed. Even is "hot Sex" was included in the final product, it is no worse(except in quality) than sex scenes in the vast majority of R rated movies.
and with that, I think it should be noted that the Movie Ratings are "Voluntary", as in, the Movie Publisher can rate their movie whatever they want to. The ESRB Rating is forced on any game intended for sale on any medium outside of the Internet, the Developer cannot issue its own rating for the game and it cannot sell the game in 95% of retail outlets without a sanctified rating.
Truth be told, the average age of the Gamer is climbing, in fact, 70 years old isn't too old to be a Hardcore gamer. If games are just for kids, then shouldn't most modern pasttimes be for kids only?(ie. Hockey, Football, Basketball, Golf, Movies, etc)
everyone that replied to my post
Fantastic fucking job pointing a spelling error that Google doesn't list as a spelling error(go ahead search it up on google)
did any of you actually read the rest of the post?
I still can't believe Bush hasn't even *apolagized* for breaking our fundamental American rights.
First of all, you spelled "apoligised" completely wrong.
secondly, what makes you think he ever intended on apoligising? Hell, what makes you think he feels any sympathy whatsoever for anyone that has had their rights stomped on?
Oh well. I suppose we had a good enough run with freedom and personal liberty (something like... 30 or 40 years out of the thousands of years humans have been around?). Time for another Dark Ages. Hooray.
I'm glad your so happy that everything the United States was founded on is dead. That goes for Canada and any other "Free" country in the world. Why don't you just flat out hand every personal freedom you have to George Bush.
I will be as blunt as I possibly can be here, the time is now, Revolution will happen, its is as sure as the Sun will rise.
We stand, as we have always stood from our earliest beginnings, for the independence and equality of all nations. This nation was born of revolution and raised in freedom. And we do not intend to leave an open road for despotism. - John F Kennedy
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. - John F Kennedy
If President Kennedy was alive today, the state of current American politics would bring him to tears
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin
Every generation needs a new revolution. - Thomas Jefferson
Don't be a slave to the Corporate Dictatorship, voice your rights, take to the streets and overthrow the corrupt Government that has formed out of the decay of the Government the United States was founded on!
DS9 was the only trek series that completely bored me out of my fucking skull. The acting (while not nearly as bad as the Fan-made show from TFA) was outrageously bad and with the exception of the odd skirmish, it was mostly General Hospital in space without a hospital
do you watch T.V or go see movies? if so your no better than a gamer, in fact because your not interacting with the on-screen material you are doing even less.
I remember dialing into a local BBS a long time ago and using numbers and other alphanumeric charactors BEFORE it was called leetspeak(sorry, 13375934K).
It started as a way to bypass the swear censor, but on my BBS we took it farther, it kind of became a game, we evolved the language on a daily basis while the ops would add our new "word" to the censor. The language progressed to the point where i'm pretty sure 80% of the english language was censored from the BBS. It was tough keeping up as the ops where pretty good at staying up to date with each iteration. We damn near got to a pretty good quasi-encrypted communication system which was readable almost as fast as English.
Unfortunately the company that ran the BBS went bankrupt and we lost about 4 months worth of content. I've forgotten most of the language now, but leetspeak could be considered as a very basic version of it.
In his defence, I'm 25 and I brag about drinking, then again I am a Canadian and half our lives are spent intoxicated. It's kinda like a right of passage up here
You know what? Even after being told that hundreds of times by my Dad, i've decided that based on the comment that this anonymous coward posted, i'm going to discard everything in my life that has anything to do with video gaming and get a real hobby... perhaps complaining about "Kids these days", or going to Bingo...
If I was that kids mother I would beat him into a bloody pulp, I'm normally against Child abuse, but that kid went waaaaay too far. seriously, baseball bat to the head time for him, he'd never talk back again!
I don't live with him, I have my own house
I pay for everything I own myself. which is just one more reason why he should mind his own business about what I spend my money on
I'm 25 and as far as my Dad is concerned, 16 is too old to play Games. He still doesn't accept my hobby and asks me on several occasions when I plan to get rid of my consoles. I just tell him i'm getting a few more soon, to which he grunts and tells me to grow up.
The biggest problem that Windows has,IMO, is the lack of a secure user system. They give you all of two options for users in XP; Administrator, and Limited.
Administrator has full control of the computer and unlimited access to the registry
Limited has next to no control over anything besides just "using" the computer.
There is no middle ground, no permission system on comparable grounds to Linux. I run as Admin on my Windows box primarily due to the fact that I don't want the hassle of logging out every time I want to update a program or do some other mundane task. This leaves me open to every worms and virus on the internet, fortunately I have the common sence to ensure I have working and well configured hardware and software firewalls, and an up to date Virus Scanner. Unfortunately, Joe User has no understanding of such utilities. Giving users the ability to install programs and run updates that don't require Kernel access would enable Windows to have much better security in most cases. Another thing that bothered me about Windows that is commonplace in Linux is the ability enter and exit Administrator mode without logging out the user through the use of a Password Prompt.
Windows Vista supposedly will boast a well designed user system that I will weclome with open arms, if they do it right!
or possibly i'm sick and tired of hearing about how great linux is for everything from flipping burgers to making your bed in the morning.
I ran linux on my primary computer for 3 years, I found 9/10 applications to be acceptable at best, the games where sheer crap and support came in the form of submitting a request to a group of hack programmers or doing it myself. Really, the only thiing I honestly found it useful for is webservers, and thats due primarily to the fact that so many people already use linux for webservers that support for those applications is abundant
I'm sorry if I actually want to have an operating system thats useful for multimedia, gaming, and casual computing right out of the box. I use Linux, I have 2 boxes right next to me, one is used for running a backup of my websites, the other is a test-bed for my other web development activities. I also use OSX, I have my Mac in my Family Room, its great for graphic design and for my computer-illiterate friends and family. and finally, I have Windows on 3 computers, which I use for pretty much everything else.
I'll stick with my proprietary closed source Windows XP box, it seems to be quite secure in comparrison to Linux
Just because a summary says something doesn't mean that the article says the same thing. The article acknowledges the presence of a partition tool but bemoans the limited features of the tool.
A.K.A its not the tool that Linux uses so i don't want to use it *grumblegrumbleimleetcuziuselinuxgrumble*
you ever read multiple versions of the bible? I assure you, words and passages are completely rewritten from version to version.
The King James Bible is very different from the American Standard bible, which, despite being in another language, is damn near a complete rewrite of the original bible.
I'm nowhere near a bible-thumper, but one thing i do know about it, is that the modern bible is written by humans, and changed by humans, regardless who wrote the original version(whom I think where still humans)
i was thinking that myself, the last thing i'd be telling people is how many people "didn't" like my game
makes me wonder if Star Wars Galaxies should setup a new advertising campain: "70% of our players cancelled their accounts after the last update, this means less lag for you!"
to play devils advocate, i would prefer it if gaming companies would re-release their older games as GPL or some other public License. the game has run its course and the required profit has been made from it, let us play it without legal hassles. I can understand making a compilation for a console or handheld but those games shouldn't be a full $60-$80, people are more likely to drop $20 and more copies of the compilation would be sold and everyone can openly access the games.
charging $60 for something like Final Fantasy 4 is attrocious IMO, its a great game but its not like they had to remake the game, they just had to emulate it, not something that requires a team of developers to do.
that being said, i am looking forward to the Revolution and its supposed capability to download the entire Nintendo collection to your console. even if each game is $1-$2(any more and i would just fire up my modded X-box and run my emulator

how do you explain Ralph Klein then?

"An Interview With 2old2play's Doodi"
who is this 2old2play and why are we interviewing his "Doodi"?
