    Didn't I say the same thing a few months ago and get modded troll? I find it hard to believe stuff like this is just now coming out. It isn't new news. Even Dell starting pulling back from overseas when they made the same realizations many of us said would happen with the language/time zone/distance barrier.

    Solon Heritage was supposed to have been released last year. And the fact that the end of Hegemonia is similar to the end of the 2nd Matrix movie and leaves you hanging....that was pretty lame to drop the project.

    I STILL play MajorMUD to this day. It is still being developed by Metro. I think it is basically as a tax writeoff every year for the company that bought them though ;)

    That was my thought exactly when I first read this. Oh no, not ANOTHER one! Its bad enough I have to run trillian just to talk to everyone because there is no standard. I refuse to have 4 IM clients installed on one machine. 5 would just be obsurd. It would really be nice if this were a cross-platform type solution for all of the clients where you could have a google IM ID that could talk to any other IM service & vice-versa. Otherwise I'll only get it if co-workers and customers get on it and I have to have it to communicate on yet another service.

    I'm using Trillian and happy with it. I haven't tried MirandaIM though. How does it compare with Trillian?

    Before you go calling other people an idiot (who haven't even replied yet) you should clarify that you mean ports on the NIC. Otherwise you wouldn't have anything working. You need sockets for EVERYTHING including hard drive access. All I picture is someone sitting here calling others idiots sitting next to a box that the keyboard won't even work on. And yes, sockets are what open ports so it's the same thing.

    In response to your question, outbound socket calls trigger bi-directional connections with the remote end in most cases. So if you load an email client and download your email, you just had data come through an active(session) port. This could be malicious or not. Who knows?

    The only problem is getting the energy to convert it still requires fossil based fuel or nuclear energy ultimately. Sure a small fraction will come from wind and solar but you still have to heat it in the process. I talked to a guy who was trying to use pecan shells to create fuel but it wasn't economically feasible to convert it to a clean energy source.

    Never underestimate the power of fear. I'm not saying that it's good, but it has definitely been effective.

    Worked like a charm on me. I was afraid to download music and I haven't thought of a single CD I want to buy since then. If I hear it on the radio I know they're going to play it every 15 minutes until I scream so I don't bother buying those.

    There were a couple of years where I would have KILLED for an IT Manager position. I have a job now outside of management but I really don't see what the problem is. I used to be one and I loved it.

    I believe Scientific American had an article about all of the CO2 that was trapped underwater. With all of the hurricane activity lately I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't just stirring it up a bit. This is just speculation though.

    I don't know about everywhere else, but this is the mildest summer we have ever had in my entire life in TX. I think it broke 100 degrees 3 times all summer. Personally I'm predicting a harsh winter if it follows the same trend.
