Ok sorry, reading on, he writes, "The only practical approach to the issue of nuclear weapons proliferation is to put it higher on the international agenda and to use diplomacy and, where necessary, force to prevent countries or terrorists from using nuclear materials for destructive ends." Force to prevent countries from what?

People don't seem to quite grasp that the only country in the world to have used nuclear weapons and still possesses lots of nuclear weaponsm, is not even able to run a decent democracy, with Bush, the Torturer in Chief at the head.

Mr. Patrick Moore is definitely unreliable.

He writes, "And although I don't want to underestimate the very real dangers of nuclear technology in the hands of rogue states". I think it naive to use the term "rogue states" this way. Rogue in respect to what? They don't like to torture their people or other nations? They don't like to bomb civilians?

Then he continues, "Nuclear fuel can be diverted to make nuclear weapons. This is the most serious issue associated with nuclear energy and the most difficult to address, as the example of Iran shows." I can't follow. Why talk about Iran, and not Pakistan, India, Israel, the US? I think he hasn't seen enough of the world.

I thought people might like that, and be able to relate to it since they are familiar with the results.

  11. Cheapo Economics Theory on BellSouth Will Charge Providers For Performance · · Score: 1

What we're looking at is of course the implementation of cheapo economics theory, I think called neoclassical economics, implemented by the mafia style rip-off industry called telecommunications. In other words, cheapo MBA's following a cheapo theory and the will and need to live of other people's efforts. They are in control of a resource, and have no other way to earn or increase their income except through this kind of extortion. Other ways are not accessible to them since their minds are small, but their pockets are big.

The proper way to deal with this is regulation which is up to the people in the end. They have positioned themselves to not charge "the people" directly, and so defense is difficult.

But not if this only works if the length is lied about. From the pod-cast:
As I said before, each record in a metafile begins with a four-byte length, followed by a two-byte function number. So in other words, each metafile record has six bytes minimum that it can possibly be in size. Oh, and since the size is in words, the smallest possible size for a metafile record would be three words long, or six bytes. Look, the reason I had problems making this exploit happen initially is I was setting the length correctly. It turns out that the only way to get Windows to misbehave in this bizarre fashion is to set the length to one, which is an impossible value. I tried setting it to zero. It didn't trigger the exploit. I tried setting it to two, no effect. Three, no effect. Nothing, not even the correct length. Only one.

A paper with "Complete" in its title like this one should have a "complete" analysis of its claims. I think it is fair to say that just skimming the paper will reveal that no such complete analysis is provided.

Admitted that "complete" might be difficult to attain in this context. But at least make the assumptions explicit. That's just a basic way to back up your claims.
