Oh, I'm actually agreeing with you - Moore's Law is nothing more than a socio-economic phenomenon that drives the technological-engineering progess in the field (and not the reverse).
On the other hand, one could argue that Intel pushed too fast ahead of the curve, thereby hitting the brick wall of current technologies before they could be replaced...
On the gripping hand, I'm just annoyed that Uploading has been postponed to after 2060, where I'll probably not make it...
I've been only using the command line for the last twelve years, and in that time it has evolved more than you credit it. The problem with the commandline is that it isn't self-documenting, while a GUI usually is, and that is what gives the initial impression...
The CLI, while linear, is a very expressive interface and it is quite mature, and Vista's commandline is playing catch-up with Unix in that regard.
It's quite possible that by 2100 there won't be any permanent paper record of human history, which means that in the event of a civilization-wide catastrophe we certainly won't have anything left for future generations....

The actual problem is that there is an upper limit of (relative) flow speed vs the platter, above which heavy turbulence starts. It's the same reason CD's have a max speed of about 52x or so. While both platters and R/W head are much more stiff than the CD equivalents, this does set a limit on the maximum rotational speed.
On the other hand, heat generation/dissipation is also a big problem, especially with bigger data densities, where on-disk bits are easier to flip.
That's patents that you're thinking of... If I just scribble anything on a napkin, it's automatically copyrighted by me, even if you can scribble the same thing without copying mine...
Look, I'm playing on Hellscream-EU too, and have created a new character on a new realm just because I got a 5 min queue - There are better ways to fiddle my thumbs...
If you want to see taxes, come to Europe... If someone pays me 100 euros for services rendered, 51.4 of them will go to the government (here in Greece at least)
Indeed. There was a joke that you could take a Model M with you on the football field, bash a few heads, rinse it in the sink and then attach it to the computer and start typing...
Sigh. What you describe already exists - look up compiler, assembler and linker.
... your mind can't grasp the idea that ABBA and Ace of Base are considered... vitage?
Yes, and that is an evolutionary advantage...

Yes, and that's why processor prices haven't dropped in 2 years, and we're at 3Ghz-equivalent for so long....

Sorry to burst your bubble, but processors have had serial numbers now for a looong time...
Who else thought they would find Baal there?

AFAIK, Guild Wars has no concurrency as almost all the areas are instanced.
Pray tell, write some more, I can't seem to find any details...
You know, near the end of the 19th century, scientists had a similar outlook to yours, just has a few anomalies that had to be straigtened out...
They can't vote? What do you think "Campaing Contributions" are? Hint: long past the "Legalized Corruption" line ....
They are, and they are quite candid about it - they call it an expansion.

That sounds like bought-for legislation, as the fines should be much higher than the overtime costs.
Simple: rewrite (or amend) their corporate charter.
Ah, thanks for the clarification, it was enlightening.
I had the impression that locality was practically done for, what with wavefunctions and their collapse...
