It's more of it doesn't seem to consume as much power as XP and thus doesn't overheat. I've had Ubuntu running in the same CPU position as XP overheating did, and it stayed up all the time.
I'm not bashing XP, just his statement that XP DOESN'T crash.
Been using XP for quite some time (since 2002 actually) on various machines, and it DOES crash, regardless of what I have running. It crashed on a daily basis when I got my new machine (Faster ram, better harddisk space, cooling etc) after I left it running for a few hours, until I figured out it was because of overheating. Moved the CPU and it crashes once every two with random programs running. These errors are random and I cannot find out why they crash.
Ubuntu, on the other hand, crashed three times for me in the beginning (a known issue which was quickly fixed) and has been stable ever since.
Good for you that XP hasn't crashed, but I don't think your experiences are indicative of the whole.
(To the mods: I'm sorry I couldn't resist posting this reply).
The latest version of Adblock Plus for FF3B5 was release about a week or so ago. I've been using it since then, works like a charm.
Some ads are still not fully blocked though.
Other notables include: Lim Kit Siang, the previous Opposition Leader, and Tony Pua, as well as scores of Opposition members. The only BN Rep I know that had a blog was the MP for Subang Jaya, arguably one of the more tech-savvy districts in Malaysia. His blog was actually informative and less on the propaganda side.
Jeff is an idiot, IMO, but he does have interesting posts.
You're saying that charging people for copies of software code is unethical and evil, but charging them for copies of music, sound, or art is not? Can we get the official list of which people's work is considered to have value, and which isn't?
Actually, it makes sense. The engine itself, it seems, isn't the one that's being limited, but how the game is dressed up (music, artwork, storyline, etc etc) is.
It's like how we're all given a body, but to cover up and maintain that body (clothes, food, drink etc) are costs.
And so, it doesn't really have a bearing on whether that person's content has value. We've all seen people dress like they were going to a pajama party when it's a posh dinner.
I agree with the recommendation of Pullman. It's a dark series, meant for teens, but it's much more brilliantly written than HP. Though not as popular, unfortunately.
The book is due out either later this year or next year, and will be ONLY ONE BOOK. According to an interview he gave sometime last year, Jordan mentioned that everything will be finished in one book, even if his publisher has to create a whole new way of binding the book and its pages.
With regards to Draco, I think it's because he was the one who took the wand away from Dumbledore. It was not so much that he defeated Dumbledore, but that he had taken the wand from Dumbledore's hand against Dumbledore's will, thereby winning the Elder Wand (feel free to correct me).
The character that I think Rowling meant was Aberforth (spelling please?), Albus' brother. No one has ever seen him do magic, at least not that I can remember from the first book.
I agree with your conclusion about the Harry Potter series. It really does end the books, though I keep feeling that the last book read like a typical fantasy story. However, for some reason, I keep seeing her pull a Dragonlance and Star Wars(my own terms, btw). Fans/other authors will probably write the first HP, Rowling-approved fanfiction books that will be published that adds to the canon of the HP world.
No, but they can start investigations based on the reports and information they received.
It would help if people knew whether they were able to lodge police reports against idiots (virus/malware/spyware etc creators). Most places I know don't have a system to handle such reports.
I'm using the latest version of Opera (9.21), and it takes up more memory and crashes more often than FF does. In fact, sometimes opening two heavy flash windows causes it to be unresponsive and then crash shortly afterwards.
According to the full article, it seems so. *Waits for the whooosh!*

False.

I'm having this problem too. It's not just happening on the slower machine at work, it's also happening on the faster comp at home.
At times, it will hang both Firefox and itself. Way to go, Chrome.
Check in the Bugzilla reports if you're not sure. Sounds like something went wrong.
I'll admit I did. And to the poster who said whether anyone would be surprised that Google did, nope, I wouldn't be.
Or a jacket you can wear while walking to power your iPod!

It's a Dupe from NYTimes themselves.
Gah, of all times for me to have used up my mod points!
What chance?
Now this is certainly interesting.
Mod up please. It's hilarious!
Mod parent up please. This is a good insight, not a troll.
I love your Linux Firefox font. What is it, if you don't mind me asking?
Arial and Helvetica are pretty good fonts, but serif fonts now tend to make my eyes bleed.
Considering the topic, I'm not surprised to see someone advertise their music.
Congratulations. And all the best!
Wish I could you mod you up till +5 funny.

Though that's a remote possibility.

Now that sounds very interesting. I think it was more of a precaution that they sent him off rather keep him there.
