They ran a documentary on it in Hong Kong, it looked kinda cool. But it was about the size of a 12 year old and didn't look very strong... but i guess it will do just fine fetching me a beer from the fridge after a hard days work:)
i wasn't trying to justify it (should have put tags around that last comment)
What I was trying to say was, when i travel i don't have DVD/VCR/... available. So i would be completely willing to pay for some sort of download service.
i believe in paying for these services, and i do buy dvd's,... i just don't want to haul them everywhere with me (just like all my CD's -and yes i own them- are on my MP3 player) or spend weeks ripping all of it.
i'm not justifying it, i know it's wrong...but it's a symptom, not a disease!
...i liked that comment by chronos42 about putting money into the local economy, but i guess we could build the same case and say that also happens when we go see a movie down here...
Thank you for your interest in Movielink. We want you to take part in the powerful Internet movie rental experience that Movielink delivers, but it is presently unavailable to users outside of the United States.
The pirates are so much more user/customer-friendly.
Working in Turkey at the moment, around the block from the hotel people are standing around with these huge boxes full of DIVX movies. costs about a buck or 2 a movie (depends on your bartering skills)...
the amazing this is that they even have a system! It's all DVD quality, autorun feature that would install all the codecs, subtitling software,...
now i don't feel so bad for having bought some of those when i' really really bored...
i was going to buy some from your site mr. movie exec... but you wouldn't let me... so this was my only option
my bill is around 35usd a month...but that includes cable-internet
packages are very basic:
around 20 regular (national) chanels
these can be supplemented with other 'premium' packages:
eg: cartoon chanel, hbo, discovery,...
or specialist packages: Eastern european chanels, arab chanels,...
in a lot of European countries that is illegal
basically the idea is that if you are down that badly, cutting off your phone will only push you away further... and not give you a chance to become part of society again
same with water and electricity, there are legal 'minimums' that have to be supplied even if you do not pay the bill.
if i remember correctly for 'information society' classes.
Digital divide is considered because of the 'universal access/universal service' idea. Kind of like we have on telephone service in the west (everybody has a phone, companies are not allowed to cut your incoming phonecalls even if you don't pay)
The divide would now be that there is no 'universal access' yet so you have two classes of people.
Throwing computers at them is just a quick and dirty solution (ok, it worked for phones but 'puters are more complex)
that reminds me of this training i went to once where the istructor kept giving us 5 minutes breaks every 20 minutes because of 'safety regulations'
--->or we can fit in with the shopfloor crowd and wear safety goggles:)
i guess that's why they give you different channels...
had the same problem with the phone, if you just change the channel away from the default one (you should do that anyway) it should work again....so if you neighbour owns an AP aswell i guess you should talk and coordinate on channels...

hmm... but you need a modded box for this, so that would let you use broadQ afterall...
Some people just have too much spake time on their hands
first post! :)
i can buy 10 $30 ones and save money, but those can't walk around the house...
and i guess you need two... one for upstairs and one for downstairs...
why did i need this again?
SAP if you like to use business and computing skills
kinda like that 'viral advertising' on hotmail... now everybody does it so it has lost it's potency
Guess they can get a couple more bangs out of it, then they can really close the p2p net
