    Here is what he says:

    It's hard to take him seriously when he didn't go to the media until now.

    Mother f'in' Nancy Pelosi is going to keep her seat for Pete's sake.

    It would be foolish for San Franciscans to vote out Nancy Pelosi....as a top ranking democrat, she gives the city far more power than it would otherwise have.

    Ego in Buddhism is somewhat different than Ego in psychology. In Buddhism Zen you learn there is no independently existing self, but the non-self is pretty great. To quote a monk, "you are buddha." To quote a particular nun, "You are me and I am you."

    ok, so have a non-standard definition of manager, that's fine; "an argument about the world is interesting, an argument about a word is not."

    Overall I see you as a reasonable chap. Somehow I see standups as horrible things to be endured, and you see them as quite great. I kind of wonder why we see them differently but don't really know.

    So how would you propose to infect an entire city's worth of people with a complex virus without it being detected? In order to be infectious, you need noticeable symptoms

    The obvious counter-argument is to create a virus that spreads easily, waits a few months, then kills people as quickly as ebola.

    That's interesting, I figured databases would be largely I/O bound, not processor bound.

  18. It's really not a problem, just use OpenBSD, they're invulnerable to Spectre now, and the put security as a top priority (only two remote holes in the default install in a long time!), so you're probably safe.

    It's an option, you can change the setting with a syscall. That's not clear from the summary, you have to click through to the actual announcement.

    Yeah. I see a lot of problems with drug use, but I'm with you on this one. Specifically, legalize the sale and transportation of drugs.
