If the ACLU or whoever they're representing is talking about illegal stuff with people overseas, then the government should probably be listening, right? And if they're not talking about such things, then you're not going to have the government busting you for anything.
Comments such as this show a remarkable naivete in their understanding of what the right to privacy is all about. What happens if the ACLU is talking about stuff that is both legal but also damaging to the administration? Should we really give the administration -- this one, a future one, perhaps a tyrannical one -- the power to listen to such conversations?
Then interstellar medium (ISM) isn't a vacuum, it is just very low density (a few particles per cc). At the termination shock, the solar wind changes from supersonic to subsonic, as judged by the *local* sound speed. This sound speed depends on the the temperature of the ISM, which is on the order of a few million kelvin.

Thanks for the info. Two further questions: how is cache coherency handled? And how will the pricing of a 2-socket Woodcrest system compare to that of a two-socket dual-core Opteron system?
And when you do die, if you want to remembered as nothing more than a parasite in society, feeding off the suffering of others and getting by making the minimal possible contribution you can get away with, always seeking to make someone else responsible, always seeking to make someone else suffer the consequences of your lust then I suppose your "interests" are served.
When I'm dead, why should I give a shit about how I am remembered?

Is Intel really that good above 1 socket? I was led to believe that a 2-socket Woodcrest system has real bandwidth problems, because the inter-chip communication must go over the FSB. You're saying that the problems only set in at 4 sockets, but why not then also at 2 sockets?
Could they have been imprisoned for Climbing While Black? Sounds crazy, but so is the number of Afro-Carribeans pulled over in the USA for Driving While Black...
I'm striving to underdstand your logic. You claim that the USA is civilized because it has laws banning torture. Yet, in spite of the fact that We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, there is uncertainty over whether the illegality of torture applies to non-citizens. This would suggest that non-citizens are not all men, but something else. Indeed, this wholly undermines any claims that the outlawing of torture are based on moral considerations. How can it be moral not to torture me, but to torture my neighbour?
The USA may guarantee freedom of speech. But it doesn't gaurantee freedom from execution from the state -- and many other things. Furthermore, when you think about recent concepts such as 'free speech zones', you see that the utility of freedom of speech extends only as far as the 'right' can be excercised -- which in the current US political climae is not very far at all.
Finally, if you use countries that practice infanticide or honor killing as your yardstick, then something is wrong. After Abu Ghraib, I heard people like yourself pointing out that 'at least we aren't as bad as Saddam was'. This sort of reasoning strikes me as very worrying.
Yep, I've got a four-core Opteron rig (2x275) for work. But now I want an 8-core rig, containing two 4-core CPUs. While I understand that 4x4 will be the desktop part, designed for single-socket systems, I expect it will arrive with similar Opteron-2xx series processors that have 4 cores. *That's* what I'm interested in.
No, they're still there, since to remove them would break backward compatibility. But there are better ways of achieving the same functionality, via derived data types and modules.
What sort of support does Conroe have for multi-processor rigs? I'm currently running a 2x Opteron 275 system (ie, four cores). Sure, each individual processor in my box has its ass handed to it by a Conroe proc. But until it is possible to assemble a rig with more than one Conroe in it, I don't see a good reason to switch away from AMD for my parallel computing needs.
Why exactly is it wrong? If the Chinese government gives the go ahead, can't Chinese entities do what the fuck they like with Skype? Or any other piece of software, for that matter?
In case you're interested, Wikipedia has an article discussing the Enniskillen bomb. It appears there wasn't a warning in that case. Whereas, the Wikipedia article on Omagh reports three warnings. In any case, as you point out Omagh was the actions of a breakaway faction.
You should have written "others". You seem to be laboring under the misconception that an apostrophe is used to announce an upcoming "s". You fucking retard.
Ah, but he's not some random Slashdot user. He's a Libertarian, so he can do what the fuck he likes, and if that inconveniences or harms others -- well fuck 'em, let the weak perish!
5 minutes of serious analysis reveals that Libertarianism remains in the kindergarten of political philosophy -- suitable only for callow youths and retards.

Well, it seems to have worked, despite the price drop. I signed up for 100 shares, but was allocated none; so it's not as if they had to dump loads of stock on the customers.

The DMCA explicitly protects your right to reverse-engineer for the purposes of interoperability.

Where was the warning for Omagh? Or Enniskillen?
But the IRA bombings weren't in the US. They were just sponsored by the US. You stupid cunt.

Good luck in getting 2xx series CPUs to work in a 4-socket motherboard. Unless you know something I don't?

Actually, I feel sorry for the people who built 754 systems back in the day. It seemed that AMD moved onto Socket 939 pretty quickly after that one.
Amen to that. I'm stuck with two S754 systems. I sooooo wish I'd paid a few extra dollars to get 939....
