There was that 'Cool Spot' platform game back in the 90's for 7-up too...
From what I recall it was actually a pretty good game, by the standards of PC platformers at the time (admittedly thats not exactly saying a great deal)
Hyundai Q17 here
I think its a 20ms panel but not 100% sure and I've not noticed any problems with it at all - no ghosting, great image quality (via DVI, I'm told VGA isn't too clever on this display but I've never had reason to check for myself) and light to carry.
And as for that 'true gamer' rubbish - two words: LAN Parties - I can carry everything I need on my person and still get great performance (Shuttle XPC and aforementioned TFT, with rucksack for other bits) and is a hell of a lot easier than shifting my 19"CRT around the place.
Stick to native resolution (1280x1024) and with vsync on and its beautiful:)
yeah - was the preview to ROTK on the theatrical TTT DVD - Gandalf with Merry on Shadowfax, just before they go and stop Denethor killing himself and Faramir - during the fight Gandlaf's staff is broken which is why for the rest of the battle he fights only with his sword (not to mention nicking a spear off one of Denethors guards as he storms the crypt)
As has been said - the universe was generated algorythmically, Theres a good article here - its an exerpt from a very good book called Backroom Boys talking about Bell and Braben and how Elite came to be...
Thats right - the sequel was Frontier, and was also great (although graphically primitive for the time (mid-90's)) and there was a subsequent sequel, First Encounters, that was *horrifically* bug ridden out of the box.
In an effort to be vaguely on topic I'll remind everyone that its not delayed *again* - Valve only ever offered the 30th of September as a release date, after they announced it wasn't happening they've never released another one (at least not officially) - everything else I've read has been 'unconfirmed rumors' or 'a source at Vivendi'. While its annoying the Valve haven't said much of anything on the issue its not like they *keep* breaking dates - there hasn't been one to break!
Personally speaking as of right now, despite being a huge CS/HL junkie and *really* looking forward to Half Life 2, I don't much care when it turns up, so long as it doesn't suck - my reason? I have a load of other great games that are keeping me more than busy at the moment, I don't have the time to dedicate to each of them as much as I'd like let alone something else too:)
If you're itching to play something in the meantime can I recommend: Call of Duty, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon - these are all occupying my gametime and keeping me *thoroughly* entertained:)
Dude, try moving the mouse left and right - ooo look! the camera angle moves!
Prince of Persia is a *fantastic* conversion - one of the few to do it right IMHO - along with Star Wars: KOTOR and GTA3: Vice City
Grandparent is right - those three games rocked *hard* this Christmas andI'll add another to the list: Broken Sword 3 - The Sleeping Dragon
In no particular order
Highs:
Splinter Cell
Knights of the Old Republic
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Call of Duty
CS 1.6
Jedi Academy
GTA3: Vice City
Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon
Lows:
Lack of Half Life 2
Halo
Worms 3D
In fact I'd say given my tastes its been a pretty good year, gaming wise. I personally have no complaints with console conversions so long as effort is made to get them right - Splinter Cell and KOTOR were flawess conversions for my money, and the only issue I took with GTA at all was the default controls for the helicopter were utterly retarded - but that was easily fixed. Then on the other hand was Halo which I *hated* and could not get into at all...
Was nice to see a really good graphic adventure too - been too long since I've played one of them:)
depends really - suppose for example one of the screens held something you need to refer to, rather than use constantly - as an example an RPG - could have all the stats and inventory gubbins on one screen while the game area is on another - allows you to have potentially useful information available to you at all times while playing the game.
Even if they were being used simultaneously you'd be suprised at how easy it is to get used to it, as anyone that uses a dual-head setup on their computer at home knows.
We keep a number in stock at work (I work for a uni department currently mifgrating from OS9 to X one machine at a time).
Each time we transfer a user we lend them a copy for reference - its the only tech manual I've seen that is as useful to an experienced user as a complete newbie - its the book I always recommend to anyone asking for a good book on the OS.

Wasn't it II that had the American football stadium in one of the levels? Nah, that was the first one :)
