i watched for a little bit, then went to close the port off and then realized.. what is the worst he can do . print something.
FYI, you're wrong about the worst case... it's been demonstrated that one can get an HP printer to send a copy of everything printed to a remote printer or other IP... Do you really want your TPS reports stolen?
If you install lilo or grub into the boot sector of the partition linux which is installed, then you can point the NT loader at that partition without having to copy anything.
Maybe I could dd the first sector of hda to hdc, which would clone the reference MBR. But I'm not sure that works if the disk geometries are different.
Won't work for lilo, but IIRC that should work for grub.
Don't forget that ballistic armor (a bulletproof vest) doesn't help against stabbing or cutting weapons...
(Note: I'm not an expert. I'm sure somebody is trying to make a dual-purpose vest, if they haven't already. I just know that the standard ones are ballistic only.)
You can get kevlar with a thin steel or titanium "trauma plate" which will stop most knife/stabbing attacks.
You should be able to find lots of small cases on mini-itx.com
Regardless, this company's Neo series http://www.lex.com.tw:8080/home.htm are very small (notebook HD only, no CD or other drive bays). IIRC, they're under $400 with motherboard, CPU, case, and PS.
What if the people who it is important to can't read it?

Umm, are you not aware that someone could DOS your site by spoofing traffic from AOL, SBC, Comcast, ...
Then, you block those networks, and no one can get to your site.
Gets even worse... I might even be able to block you from reaching the root DNS servers!
Read Dan Kaminsky's DefCon presentations.

Oops... the C3 Samuels aren't fully 686 either... the newer Nehemias are better.
The systems usually sell with case, mb, and CPU.
They start at about $200.
Depending on the case, you can use a 2.5" or 3.5" HD, and usually a slim CD or DVD.
Mini-ITX.com has LOTS of info.
If you get a VIA, make sure its a recent one (C3?) as the older ones aren't fully 686 compatible so some software won't run on them.
Udi Manber (while he was chief scientist at Yahoo) mentioned it was happening to Yahoo, during a presentation at UCR.
Yes. Selling them.
I'm back at my desk and found the flyer.
RainbowTables.net
One of the vendors at DefCon this year was selling them.
Try googling for Rainbow Tables.
FWIW, they have Squid caches in front of the web farm, so there are cached static copies of busy pages.
Ah yes...

The French developed combat armor capable of stopping any standard military round below .50BMG.
(Kevlar + big metal plate on front and back of torso)
Unfortunately, it weighs 75lbs.
The only thing the house gets in poker is table fees or tournament fees.
Skylarov was not "lured to Seattle"; he was arrested after giving a scheduled presentation at DefCon.
IIRC, the Seattle case involved massive credit-card theft/sales.
Saying homosexuality is genetic is akin to saying celibacy is heriditary. :P
FWIW, it's not hard to make PDFs from PHP, etc. (for the labels)
If you have a PostScript 3 printer, you can send them directly to the printer without a driver.
I now realize why I was so skinny in HS.
finite bandwidth between processors makes it impossible to sustain anywhere near peak performance for most real-world applications.
Linpack is what is usually used to measure sustained performance on HPC systems.

No need to be so rude.
Get a $40 Trident or S3 or whatever they make nowadays.
Or get an old PCI card if you have a PCI slot free.
Also, I've seen lots of NVidia cards with dead fans that still work fine, at least for 2-D.
Get a GeForce4MX or something, and unplug the fan.
I like to use an old USR ISA modem with CallerID to see who's calling.
I've had bad experiences with PCI (win)modems.
However, my new mb has no ISA slots, so I am now going to have to use an external modem.
