Christ, I keep hearing this shit. I've been hearing the code monkeys lament the backwards compatibility tribulations of the windows ecosystem since the days of Windows95 fucking up 16-bit Windows3.1 code. AND IT ISN'T THE PROBLEM. It is A PROBLEM, but not THE problem.
I can name a whole shit load of things wrong with (pick a version of) windows, none of which have anything to do with backwards compatability, or anything else under the hood.
The problem with windows 15 years ago is that Microsoft didn't know how to innovate. All they could do is steal the good ideas of others.
The much worse problem with windows today is that they've stopped stealing good ideas, and started developing horrible ones in-house.
Microsoft is an alchemist that has discovered, after years of toil, a method for turning gold into shit.
I can't see how people don't understand how Trayvon's character may be pertinent.
Zimmerman's story is that he was following a suspected burglar. He called 911, and continued following the suspect despite the dispatcher telling him "you don't need to do that". The suspect noticed he was being followed, and confronted Zimmerman.
Investigating Trayvon's personality traits answers the following questions:
1. Is it possible or plausible that Trayvon was the burglar robbing homes in the area? If so, 'racial profiling' goes out the window. Maybe there are more possibilities for why Zimmerman was following Trayvon than 'racial profiling' and 'good detective work', but the jury will be presented with those two, as they are the opposing claims.
2. Was Trayvon Martin an agressive, confrontational person? If so, Zimmerman's claim that Martin struck first is more believable... and that story needs help. True or not, its a little hard to believe a 17 year old punched an adult with a gun.
If desktop sales are dead, its not because people don't want desktops anymore. Its because they already have one, and don't need a new one. Same with laptops.
The "Core" core was what put intel back in the lead... and they didn't even develop it themselves. They purchased an Israeli company that was making a new CPU based on the old P-III coppermine core.
Intel was, up until that point, still fighting the MegaHurtz war. This is in spite of the fact that the war had already ended a few years back when the AthlonXP line was easily beating higher clocked P4s. Intel's only answer was MOAR MHZ!!!1, spreading FUD about the performance ratings assigned to the AMD chips, and silly branding schemes that made me smack my head every time someone insisted they wanted a Centrino processor.
I really resent Intel for "cheating" their way back into first place.
My only problem with google transit is the use of abbreviations for bus and train routes, with no further information available. For example, if you're from Philly, you might already know that MFL is the Market-Frankford Line, or that BSS is Broad Street Subway (or might not, since those aren't abbreviations SEPTA uses anywhere)... But good luck to any tourists standing on that corner, looking in vain for a MFL or BSS sign.
Empirical evidence presented by well-known rent-a-journalist websites does not trump personal experience.
There are only 3 AV products I recommend (and i do this for a living), and NIS isn't one of them. Neither is Macafee.:
1. Microsoft security essentials
pros: free, does what it does with VERY little interaction, VERY low resource footprint
cons: average(read: SHITTY) protection.
2. Comodo Internet Security
pros: free version available, most comprehensive system protection I know of (I install this when I'm having paranoid days and I need to find those NSA keyloggers I "KNOW" are there somewhere...)
cons: HIGH resource footprint (makes my home computer run slow, which is a fucking feat... about the same as NIS and Macafee), and VERY user-unfriendly.
3. TrendMicro
pros: slightly above average protection, moderate resource footprint, few false alarms, no popups or dialouge boxes unless something is actually wrong
cons: all around average. not really a con... doesn't excel at anything, but doesn't suck at anything either.
FYI TrendMicro goes on all of my company's client's computers.
I've heard Kaspersky is very good.. but I've also heard Kaspersky has dealings with black hats in the russian mafia. So fuck 'em.
Anybody that stays on XP after April 8, 2014 is crazy...
XP end of lifes on that date which means no more security fixes..
OH NOES! SECURITY HOELS!!!1
Seriously, what are the dangers? I can't remember the last time I saw a computer that wasn't behind an NAT gateway. If you use a modern, up to date browser, and let flash and java update themselves whenever they want, what is the real danger?
Computers don't get infected because they're running old OS software. They get infected because someone was trying to slap the monkey to win a free Xbox.
You're one of those PROTESTANTS who call themselves christian, and don't like it when any other of the christian faiths claim that title.
Well, here's a little something to ruin your day-- that cross you wear around your neck, that symbol in the upper left of the christian flag, that little decorative doo-hickey on top of your church.... they violate the 2nd commandment. So, have fun in hell, heathen.
The 2nd commandment is no religious iconography. Period. Why did God want no symbols? Maybe for the same reason he commanded that sacrificial altars be made without hewn (cut) stones or mortar. Maybe you should read that bible you carry around for others to see.
Another fun fact to ruin your day: Protestant leaders, especially baptist leaders, resist moving away from the King James Version for the same reason the Catholic church until recently resisted the idea of having Mass in any language other than latin. Have fun figuring that out.
f.... did not require the use of complex passwords for to... property management systems... Defendants used the phrase âoemicrosâ as both the user ID and the password;
I happen to know for a fact that both Micros and Aloha use "customer/customer" as the default windows username & password for their POS servers... and it wouldn't surprise me if other POS software vendors used customer/customer as well. micros/micros is a slight improvement over default, given that it isn't customer/customer.
j. failed to adequately restrict third-party vendorsâ(TM) access to... property management systems...
You think Micros won't remotely shut your shit down if you "forget" to pay your bill? J. is impossible. POS vendors want/need/will not give up remote management capability. Might as well damn them for not securing the NSA backdoor on their windows servers.
The motive isn't exterminating the white race. The motive is exterminating the middle class. You're confused because the middle class in America is mostly white.
Some people see a forest, others see only trees. I see a forest fire.
The same way buildings 1 and 2 collapsed. Straight down, into their basements. Buildings always collapse like this, which is why Demolition Inc. and similar companies don't exist, and certainly don't make big money forcing buildings to do this by the application of math and thermite cutter charges.
Oh, and thermite cutters don't exist either. Don't bother Google-ing it. The patents you find for such devices at the USPO are just more tin-foil-hattery. The fact that Professor Steven E. Jones examined debris samples collected from the WTC site, and found evidence of thermate (a type of thermite) means nothing, because thermite cutters don't exist, and therefore couldn't be used to demolish a building.
Thermate doesn't exist either.
And Steven E. Jones had an agenda... which included losing tenure and getting fired.
Apparently the USPS is subject to "international regulations". If they don't comply, they risk being fined by the "international government", and if they piss of the "international attorney general", they might end up in "international jail".
I RTFA, and I didn't like the (lack of) explanation.
As usual, QM's explanation is saying "uncertainty" very slowly and profoundly. (Slowly for the dim-witted among us, profoundly for the benefit of the Nobel selection committee).
Seriously. TFA states that the measurements are not literal, and correlation between measurements happens after the fact.
So: quantum entanglement gives you a way to defeat uncertainty, by letting you measure the mutually exclusive information from a set of correlated particles... Except no it doesn't, because you can't be certain of your measurements.
And: clever experiments like this let you send information back in time.... Except that no it doesn't, because the universe still has plausible deniability (i.e. you only thought you sent information back in time, but it turns out, the universe was going to do what it did anyway and/or your measurements of what happened are uncertain).
Congratulations, QM fags. You've found another brilliant way to show how fucking retarded you are.
Wireless.... upgraded to have TWO buttons now... and... a scroll wheel.
WOW!!! Nothing like that over in PC land. What a fucking tool.
Over here in PC land, we have mice that fit naturally into the shape of your hand. Lemme know when the ghost of Steve Jobs decides ergonomics is important.

The problem with apple products is they just work.... until one day when they just don't.
And, when it stops working, you either have a VERY expensive repair to deal with, or a very frustrating time trying to google for helpful info.
Really? With RIM letting repressive governments (but not ours of course) get access to SMS and email? Blackberry would be my LAST option.

There have been dozzens of these as far back as I can remember. The problem, was, is, and will continue to be, the batteries.

Thousands of years of military doctrine became obsolete after WWII. Asymmetrical warfare is the only kind of warfare left.
