My expreience: 8.2 and 9.1 were great. 9.0 and 9.2 were buggy.
I since moved to MEPIS which also runs off a live CD, has a USB key feature and the HD install involves double clicking a link on the desktop.
It's Debian based and has a ton of things pre-configured by default (things like Java and browser plugins).
MEPIS would be a great choice.
Debian based, runs off the CD and the install consists of double clicking on a shortcut on the desktop, answering 2 or 3 questions and waiting for everything to be installed.
I like PDF's. I have yet to use them at a meeting but I have been experimenting with turning everything into a pdf and using the full screen mode for the presentation.
I have a lot of Power Point slides from different Office versions and importing those into Open Office sometimes causes formatting problems, especially for tables.
You can't do annimations in pdf format but I think that's a good thing anyway. I hate presentations with stuff flying in on the screen and cute animated clip art.
I'm not sure about the games. The majority of gamers are young males which I doubt are the target for this (chances are the specs are too low for gaming anyway).
Also if Sun could convince manufacturers to be more forthcoming with drivers for peripherals the second issue would be moot. Most manufacturers don't bother with drivers because the userbase is "small" and there are so many distros that binary drivers are hard to do.
If Sun and Wallmart partenered up it might be a big enough partnership to convince the manufacturers to include drivers for the Java Desktop for their devices.
You are also forgetting that by merely peeking in the door that doctor also "saw" your father. This means that if something goes wrong he would probably be named in the lawsuit.
Doctors have huge overhead (how does 60K in insurance sound to you) and they never get reimbursed for everything, either Medicare or the insurance won't pay or a lot of patients are indigent.
So they end up charging for everything they can hoping it all evens out. I'm not saying it's right but your medical costs cover a lot of people that do not have insurance and also the profits of the numerous insurance co's and pharmaceutical co's (which are the only ones that seem to me making huge amounts of money in Health care).
Yep. Back in the day I had a great Sprint plan that required no contract, had tons of minutes etc.
All of a sudden they strted pressuring me into getting a plan that required a contract just as their service went to crap.
But keep in mind the other issue is that they have to spend a lot of money on promotions / discounts on phones etc. to get new suscribesrs. I would very much prefer to get cheap no frills reliable service but the one big cost they have to absorb is the huge discounts they give on phones. And they know what will bring people in is the whole:
"Free Phone! Latest and Greatest!"
THe problem is that cell phone carriers don't make money on you until you have kept the service for at least 6 month if not longer.
So they offer cheaper service upfront and try to make sure you stck around long enough to make a profit from you.
Well why not add a disclaimer to the EULA or the manual:
"WineX is a third party product. It comes with no support or warranty use at your own risk.. blah blah blah.
Heck provide a forum maintained by the WineX people for issues workarounds etc. It would cost them very little money and it's not like the Linux community is not used to getting their support from forums, IRC and other "unofficial" channels.
Well the problem is there are many books I would just like to read a chapter of without wanting the whole thing.
For example I have Harrison's textbook of Internal Medicine. I paid well over $100 for it and I use it maybe every few weeks to look up a differential diagnosis or some reference values. I rarely read more than 2 pages at a time.
If I could find it on-line and look the stuff up you bet I wouldn't have spent the cash for it.
I think this whole thing boils down to the fact that MBA bean conter types cannot comprehend why other people are motivated by things other than making money.
They look at the DNS sytem and see a huge expoitable resource and are more concerned about how to make money off of it rather than making sure it works well.
Free Software and Open Systems run by volunteers are anathema to business types because they refuse to comprehend how someone can look at something without automatically thinking: "How couls I turn this into a pile of cash"
Or the one who made Pool Of Radiance 2. Quite possibly my biggest gaming disapointment. After playing all the Baldur's Gate games, the most excellent Planescape Torment I had such high hopes....
I hunted down the game the first day it came out drove home popped it in and after 30 min of game play I was cursing at the monitor.
It sometimes takes a few tries. I had to click three times before it connected to the tracker. There are well over 100 seeds and about 500 leechers right now.
I just re-clicked on the link and it does. Might be a problem at your end.

Mods, check the link before you mod up. It's not pretty (you don't have to click even just hover over it and read the URL).

And when that fails pull the plug?
And you would be a fool. Restaurants generally fail within 6 month.

I've seen that post about 5 or 6 times before, it's a cut and paste troll. I guess I have been browsing at -1 longer than you have :)

Interestingly enough the best reception in my house is in the bathroom. Gives me an excuse to conduct most conversations on the pot.

I'm a raging heterosexual. usually having 2-3 women at once...
You realize multiple display monitors don't count.
Man I planned to get to bed early tonight. Thanks a lot!
No it's at 0.9.4.5.1b :)
That's all fine and dandy until you get some bits from the fat UNIX admin.....

It's the Burst! client you are after. It's on sourceforge I think.

I use the Burst! experimental client whic IMO is the best of the bunch. It gives you a lot more info than the official client.
Try the Burts! client. It seems to work better than the official one for me.
