It's like this - if we say four, and there turn out to be six, we're heroes. If we say six and it turns out to be four, we're scum.
I wish more game developers thought like that. Too many times they promise a ton of features but do not deliver.
The source code is on CD 3. Redistributing it is perfectly legal under the GPL. Theoretically once a person has received one copy from the developers they can redistribute it as they please.
SuSe has non GPL'ed parts in thir distroso redistributing that would be illegal.
Well it's easy to use until something goes wrong. But if the registry gets corrupted or some strange hardware problem crops up there is no way to fix it.
My wife's laptop's modem stopped workng for no good reason. My guess is the configuration became corrupted). I tried reinstalling the driver, restoring to earlier points etc. Nothing helped. I narrowed it down to a registry problem. The problem is I can't edit binary very well. If it was linux I could modify a text file and it would probaby work again.
I know some games like Baseball Mogul
BaseballMogul have put up their Demos on Kazaa a few years ago. Might be a good way for a small developer to gain some exposure ans save on bandwidth costs.
I still use pen and paper a lot, especially for taking notes while I read and in the planning stages of a project.
My favorite pen is the Zebra Zeb-Roller 2000 with rubberized grip. It is very comfortable to grip and writes well. I prefer the Fine point becaus the medium tends to bleed on paper sometimes.

I agree with your point but I just want to point out one thing:
This label splits revenue 50/50 not profits. It's too easy for a label to doctor the books and make the profits disappear. RIAA labels still charge the artists a breakage fee which is left over from the old LP days when a % of the disks broke during transport. Nevrmind that CD's are nowhere near as fragile.
That's what I thought too and I was plesantly surprised. I really like Shiva in Exile from their World Section and in classical Ensemble Sreteniye is exactly what I have been looking for. I really like eastern church music.
Given their ecclectic selection this label should be every Slashdotter's wet dream.
Yeah but the clock is sometimes running after the play ended or the refs will start it before the QB takes the snap. So really those 60 min. are not all football.
As a fellow VA employee/researcher I feel your pain. Our labs are outfitted with Dells running Windows 2000. Not horrible but a lot of software I run is Linux only so I bring in my laptop and a USB external Zip drive in case I need to download something.
Ordering anything involves getting signatures from three different offices and much annoyance.
Actually I doubt this will ever happen. All it will take is one vendor to sell a DRM-less Bios and everyone will be asking their geek friend to build them a PC with the "stuff that lets me play my MP3's"
The problem with that transplant was a mismatch in blood types 9the baboon was Rh + and the baby was Rh -)
The transplant worked and the heart itself functioned properly but the immune reaction killed baby Faye.
They are still working on the problem at Loma Linda University. They are trying to breed a "hypoallergenic" baboon that does not have the major antigens causing rejections, thus making it easier to maintain the transplant with immune supressant drugs.
There is also work being done on pig Xenotransplants but the problem there is dormant viruses integrated in the pig genome that could awaken due to the immune supression.
One thing I was expecting (and I'm still hoping for) is some kind of biological interface.
Something of a neuronal/silicone interface. This would be amazingly helpful for dealing with disabilities (have a spinal cord injury, no problem here is a neuronal chip implant).
Also I expected some new way on interacting with computers that goes beyond mouse and keyboard, like a headset where you control the computer with eye movements.
So is this the way the search engine competition will be won? Through patents and lawsuits?"
I would say yes since the technological battle was won by Google a while back.
The new motto of business: If you can't compete: Litigate!
Actually no. Cocaine is an anesthetic and also used in research. A couple of years a go our lab bought cocaine for some muscle contraction research (we used it as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor).
This brings to mind an interesting question. How will the RIAA deal with the bad publicity of dragging to court teenagers and branding them as criminals for sharing music?
My question is though why go through all that trouble for a few MP3's?
I think this is precisely what the RIAA is aming for: make it risky or inconvenient enough that people will stop using Kazaa etc...
Most people use those services because all you have to do is double-click on a few songs, go to bed with Kazaa on and the next day you have whatever music you wanted.
I doubt there will be a big group of people Wardriving for Tunes.
You should take a look around some of the forums at the.torrent sites. People have been getting e-mails from their ISP's because Universal looged their IP while downloading the leaked version of The Hulk.

They listened to him and turned off port 80....

A theocracy! Because I miss stoning people to death and public executions are exciting!

Well to save you from downloading that SP you can always clean up the virus manually:
Disconnect from the net... (duh)
Delete msblaster.exe from the sys32 folder
Fire-up regedit and delete the key that runs it at at start-up.
I did that to clean-up my wife's laptop when we went on vacation and I did not have net acess.
Also, you could get the removal tool from Symantec.

Well when you are in the "Sue the hell out of everyone" mode SCO finds itself in, solid reasons for litigious behavior are irrelevant.

I'd go for PrettyKitty. Maybe it's a chick and has accidentaly left some home made porn on her shared folders.

Obviously not...I mean they are employing him.... :)
Sometimes I wish some of them stayed in that phase...
Well from looking at that project page I notice that it has 0 bugs!!!!
This is remarkable for an alpha project! I'm sure it will win.
