While I think Joe Morgan was one of the greatest 2B of all time he is woefully behind the times when it comes to baseball analysis.
He still does not understand the value of OBP for leadoff hitters, does not believe in pitch counts and thinks everyone tht played with him on the Big Red Machine is a Hall of Famer (slight exageration but not that far from the truth).
He is quite "old school" and would be naturally distrusting of any new technology in the game. I would hesitate to use Mogan as a source of unbiased analysis on this subject.
Another thing I found annoying about her analysis is that she admitted she had to have someone there to explain things to her.
Basically she admitted that she had no clue what she saw meant anything but since so many "smart people" (OMFG! Liek MIT and shit!!!! OMFG!!! They are so liek smart!!!LOL !!!1!1) were willing to take SCO's money then there must be something there.
*shakes head*
This list is designed to be like a screening test: False positives are acceptable (since you clear them up with a follow up) but false negatives are not since they can lead to disaster.
It's a lot like the AIDS/HIV test. You want every potential positive test to show up so you can follow it up but you do not want to miss a potentially infected person.
Neither are retarded moderators/judges. How was that offtopic when the story is about a guy who bullied and sued people left and right and now his actions came back to bite him in the ass.
A teratoma. It's very hard to treat since technically it's normal tissue in an abnormal place. So you end up with teeth or hair growing in someone's lungs.
The problem with that is that you would have to continuously control the gene externally (essentially try and baby sit it). It would be much more easy to figure out how to turn an upstream switch on since:
-You get to take advantage of cellular signal amplification so you will only need a small initial signal to turn on the cascade.
-You can take advantage of the regulatory system apready in place so the newly activated cells don't turn into a tumor or worse.
Black and White was an extremely innovative game but it had one huge flaw: it was boring as heck to play. Also it might have been too ambitious for it's own good. The AI left a lot to be desired.
Planescape Torment was indeed a great game and I was very happy to find it for $10 in the bargain bin at the local computer store.
The main problem is that the target audience for games is generally the same: young males
As a whole that audience is not very sophisticated and is likely to demand very few innovative or interesting elements in their games.
By the time they get older and start demanding more interesting games they generally fall out of the core audience and there will be another kid that turned 13 and will gladly fork over 50 bucks for yet another FPS or another Civ clone or another RPG light.
Too bad smaller companies like http://www.sportsmogul.com that make interesting games without the pretty pictures or marketing muscle do not get more attention.
I do something similar except I use wood boxes used for wine storage. The boxes are just the right size and you can get them at your local liquor store. I get mine from some waiter friends.

Heh so true.
My favorite part is the condescending tone (the italics denote the implied but not written words):
"Well retard if only you had used [insert favorite distro here, generally Gentoo or Slack] then you would not have this problem.
But you will have a ton of other problems which will send you to the forums asking other n00b questions. Then I'll be able to make more condescending comments aimed at you!
I agree they are utterly annoying. I have stopped visiting pages that have those type of ads. Or just obnoxious layouts. With TVGuide you might be stuck because I'm sure their content is not widely available (and they might scream bloody murder, claim copyright infringement and DMCA violations if you scrape it;) ).
For example the ESPN's webpage has become such a bloated Flash infested obnoxious mess that I sopped going to it.
I don't see how this is different from any other medium.
We are constantly assaulted by advertising anyway, we just learned to live with it or tune it out. Radio, TV, billboards, magazines, clothing etc. are all advertising delivery materials these days but we don't notice it as much because we are familiar with it.
If anything I think that on the net it is easier to avoid ads. I still cannot prevent the supermarket from sending me coupon booklets. I cannot block ads on the radio and if I want to watch a sporting event I will see roughly 478 different logos in 3 hours...
I think Spam, banner ads and pop-ups are much earier to igore than regular advertising (especially when it is disguised as content in movies, TV shows etc.)
The books linked there are serious crippleware. Very hard to browse and read.

Try bathing ;)
Sounds like the l33t version of C++
The hardest part is deschiphering the comments...
Or use R . . I find it better than Gnuplot.
That's because MSN and Slate are both owned by Microsoft.

used to warn cabin staff of illness among the passengers
What I'd like to know is how in the world will they be able to differentiate true illness from mere consequences of eating airline food)?

Karma's a bitch huh?

I'm thinking Amsterdam's Red District without having to travel a few thousand miles....

You forgot this part:
"And my doctor thinks this twitch will eventually go away"
It's already happened in my field (medicine). Too many doctors rely on sophisticated lab tests rather than performing a good physical
More like the belly....

I agree. I still watch the NFL on TV despite the fact that they manage to drag it out to over 3 hours merely to get in more ad time....
