Ahem. NTSC standard for TV is 720x480.
That's not GREAT, but it's decent and was enough to serve us up until now. Considering how long NTSC has been around.
What's really going to matter to businesses is support. With Red Hat, they know they're getting a trusted support contract. That's the primary reason most businesses choose Red Hat.
You have to remember.. the "cost" figure is strangely omitted anywhere from his review.
People will pay for performance, but only within reason!
However, inevitably, price will drop on these things and you will see smaller systems (tablets, tiny desktop pcs, consoles). It would be nice to make an even smaller media center PC using one of these.
I think that DirecTV's case against the modders is EFF'in' bullshit.
Once you buy hardware, you own it.
That may not be the case with copyright protected content, but just as you are authorized to privately show a DVD you own as many times as you want to (.. for now), you can privately hack your hardware any way you want to!
Sealand, anyone? Or perhaps China. Australia would be good, except they just reversed their earlier decision and made selling mod-chips illegal again. However, it is still legal to install them over there!
Well, I've been reading the forum(Powered by Vbulletin(TM), and I'm so upset I got dizzy. I couldn't feel better at all until I had a cool, refreshing drink of Pepsi(TM) and had a seat in my La-Z-Boy(TM) adjustable recliner.
Remember, we belong to corporations. They own words in our language now, and there's nothing you can do about it unless you want to fly on a Boeing(TM) jetliner out of the country.
I'd almost argue that it causes innovation, though. Fraufenhauer owns MP3. Well, that spurred the creation of OGG, which is pretty superior and free to use, for all. GIF possibly patented? Well, now we have.png, which is also a superior format.
I don't think you can patent obvious ideas like "mobile PCs" anyway. It's hard to prove there isn't prior art out there somewhere, not to mention the stupidity involved with, "My casino chip was a POCKET PC!"
Meanwhile, Jeff Besoz tries to patent "patenting random stupid shit."
Good luck with that one, Jeff. Thank you for bringing us innovations like "One-click shopping" and "hyperlinking" and "the internet".

There are many states that have clear restrictions and laws regarding e-mail spam, but this is never tracked down or dealt with. Specifics like no forged headers, no using anonymous remailers, and so on. But it's tough to track down, and spammers are very crafty, and thus little gets done - at all. Connecting the two (phone, internet) will only worsen the problem. Perhaps, senators would be more interested in legislation and enforcement if they have a 9 year old daughter being offered penis enlargement during dinner-time.
Don't worry - it'll be fine as long as the spam-blocking is as good as Hotmail's spam blocker.
Oh wait.. uh oh.:)
Basically, though, this is voice over IP

This is actually Voice over IP though, which brings a whole lot of other problems. I think it's irresponsible to be trying to switch the entire US to Voice over IP when clearly there isn't the bandwidth to support that kind of thing.

Me: "It's 4 am."
Telemarketer: It's 8 am here, sir! So How about that university diploma?
This is a horribly, horribly bad idea.:)

Yes, but can they watch "Friends" on it?
Alright, I guess I have new ammunition for Qwest the next time I call them. They're still telling I'm too far to get DSL!
Now I can't even say that my dialup is "slower than a turtle!" argh!
I don't see how this is news, I've known about this for months, I heard them talking about it on their GSM pho- uh, nevermind.
I, for one, welcome our new MPAA overlords.

Think of the children. Won't somebody PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!?! Obviously, web comics support terrism.
Take this information with a grain of salt, this information comes from the Iraqi information Minister... He's not the most reliable source, I hear.

That would be like a nerd's dream. Run a web server on your PDA..
