Nevermind the fact that the entire space industry puts AMERICANS to work. So when people have money (from working and not being on unemployment) they can buy items thus boosting the economy back up...oh wait never mind money down the drain
Mod me down if you like, I don't care anymore.
From Article:
"Managing such a vast server-farm is a formidable task. For example, how do you implement security patches and operating-system upgrades (much more frequent in Linux than in proprietary systems from Microsoft or Sun) on thousands of servers without causing disruption to service?"
Really?
If they are on the brink of extinction, maybe it's there time to go... Ya ya I know, "But they wouldn't be on the brink of extinction if it weren't for man," What kind of an effect would increasing a species numbers in a particular area have on local ecosystems?
I know everything you can download for free isn't really that, but on the same hand as many people want to know if they have drm-crippled CDs that they purchase, wouldn't one also want to know what 'extras' get installed with a program and not just an [install] button to start and an [ok] button when finished?
We used to be able to get Windows XP Pro with no activation Here (www.iupui.edu) with a group license that could be installed on as many machines as you want for $5.00, but it was recently changed as I suspect many will be to a $10.00 copy with only 1 license.
Yea that is unless you get a company that keeps double billing you "by accident" and wants you to RE -SIGN a new contract just to change anything on your plan. No thanks, the reason I wanted to change plan was because I was tired of paying too much and wanted to see if you could offer something better/work with me, not basically tell me to screw off or redidicate, and end up screwed for another 12/24 mos.
The reason their drivers perform so poorly in Linux according to ATI/Linux users (don't know never used them)is that they don't create the Linux drivers themselves.
ATI actively assists qualified 3rd party Linux developers writing software for the majority of ATI products by providing them with development kits and information.
Video System: 3D Accelerator card with 16 MB VRAM (*32-128 MB VRAM RECOMMENDED) 16 MB TNT2-class DirectX® version 6 compliant video card. (*NVIDIA GeForce 2/ATI Radeon
RECOMMENDED) DirectX® version 8.1 (Included on game disc)
On a side note, I recently read an article about some programmers that said it was actually unbelievably easy to port their program to *nix from Windows. It was however an application/design program and not a game, but hell if Winex works. . . I'll see if I can find it.
Slo-Tech: When will ATI provide open source (Linux) developers with information about yours hardware so that they will be able to write drivers instead of reverse engineer them?
Richard Huddy: ATI gives Linux drivers quite a high priority - but there's just way too much intellectual property exposed in the low level chip interfaces so we don't put that into the public domain. I'm amazed that people can really reverse engineer drivers from our binaries - but I guess that shows just how keen the Linux community is to get the best out of their machines. Sorry I can't offer more on this!
The answer is a zoo. Otherwise they will end up like some of the man eating tigers that plague villages in India.
We are the from the Government...we're here to help

I guess we'd better all get a copy of it before they are forced to recall the game and publish a new version.
Is it just me or is the statement "...bulky items such as credit cards." seem a little odd?

They probably got Liability Insurance in case the 'marks' tried to sue them back.

It is all the space debris we've dropped off in space. They made use lighter and now we're spinning right on track :)

Deciding what is in the best interest of music lovers and anyone with a computer should be left up to them as well, oh wait...
Astronauts have again found ice on mars which scientists speculate could be evidence of life, just as they have on previous missions.
