Most people have vacation days--use them for interviews. Polish up your resume after work hours. It shouldn't be that hard.

Do you run out to Barnes and Noble whenever you hear about a book you'd be interested in reading?

Yes, sometimes. Just because someone recommended it doesn't mean that it is worth buying. I can go to B&N and look at the book and see if it is worthwhile before buying it. How do you evaluate books if not for B&N? There are a dozen books on Photoshop. Which one is best? Well, you can go to Amazon and read the reviews, or you can go to B&N and actually look at the book and realize that Book A is is too simple, Book B is too advanced, Book C is directed to graphic artists, etc. You can easily figure out what is best for you.

Do you go to.. I can't think of any stores that sell DVDs other than Wal*Mart, but do you go there or do you hop on Amazon?

DVDs are different because you can't really browse a DVD like you can with a book. So Amazon is a good deal for DVDs, especially the used section.

For this case, it should be interesting. But make sure you read the main briefs (you don't have to read all of the dozen+ amicus briefs) or you will be lost in trying to follow it.

This whole thread is silly. Of course someone used to KDE will find KDE more intuitive than Windows. Similarly, someone used to OS X will find KDE or Windows to be confusing. And a Windows user will find Windows to be "intuitive".

For example, I read one article about a guy switching from Windows to OS X. One of the problems he had was something that an OS X user would find to be an OS X superior feature--he couldn't install a program. Turns out that, in OS X, you just drag the program to the hard drive. But, being a Windows veteran, he was futilely searching for Setup.EXE.

When did I make the decision. I was listening to a lot of CDs using a decent quality headphones and a portable. Not doing ABX, and listening to the music I normally listen to, I can't tell the difference. Could I tell the difference if I was listening to a symphony on a high-end system? Maybe. But how often do I do that? Not very.

So, to me, it's not worth keeping CDs. To a professional musician who listens to original source music all the time, of course I'm not surprised that you can hear a difference. (As an aside, I once read an article that noted that very few professional musicians have genuine "high-end" music systems. Turns out that they are so used to high quality music that they "know" that even the best stereo can't come close to matching real music, so they don't bother trying.
