    Where was the arm breaking, again? We know that geese can be aggressive. A goose is a flying bird; therefore their bones are mostly hollow. Attacking you with their wings would result in a badly injured bird.

    A libertarian frowns upon corporations owned by the government. Fortunately, other parcel delivery services are allowed but socialists require that the USPS be the only one allowed to deliver letters. Do you even know what a libertarian is?

    Under your immensely broad determination, just about anything could be considered commerce. After all, we're talking about subsidizing anti-virus software. That's not regulation: that's socialization. Regulation would suggest having the government set standards for anti-virus software to protect consumers from fraud-- and even then, those regs would only apply across state lines.

    Rich Skrenta turned out to be a pretty good hacker, turning out a precursor to MUSHes called VMS Monster. Unfortunately, it was as destructive to college students' grades as Elk Cloner was to Apple ][. I'm running a copy on my own site.

    No such things yet, but I have read a nice children's book about the "ping" tool starring a duck. I thought "ping" was a rather basic thing to write an entire book around but, hey, if five year olds know more about ICMP it can't be bad!

    Enemy combatants must identify with a particular state, which most terrorist organizations do not. Without being soldiers in the military of a state, they become mere criminals and not subject to the Geneva conventions. Is it immoral to torture them? Maybe in some circumstances. Is it illegal? No.

    You get people who swear by our Constitution yet somehow think that torturing is OK.

    That's a straw man, because the problem really is that few think torturing is OK; it's that some think things that do not cause permanent harm like waterboarding and sleep deprivation are torture and others do not.

    You have people who swear by our Constitution, yet somehow think that abortion is OK. They construct yet another straw man argument, telling pro-lifers "don't tell me what to do with my body". Perhaps they should read the fifth amendment? Pro-lifers, in general, don't give a crap what you do with your body as long as it doesn't involve murder, which is what they consider killing a fetus.

    Duplexing laser printers are actually quite cheap now. A few of the entry-level ones even have a driver that emulates duplexing by printing the odd pages first, then prompting you to reload the stack and print the even pages.

    I would prefer a constitutional amendment removing the government's right to define marriage of any kind. Let the people get married in their churches, temples, homes, and Vegas chapels, and let the government merely certify that two human beings share the same permanent residence for tax purposes.

    On a side note, we now know that the GLB community is just as paranoid and adversarial as most other special-interest groups. If they'd done some research, maybe they would have found that the heterosexual books were also affected and not gone into full attack mode.

    They're not free. Pay your school (or property) taxes, or lose your property. Pay the tolls, or be fined. The libraries are mostly created by rich benefactors, and continue on a combination of taxes and continued donations from the private sector.
